TIME TRAIN
Dedicated to a close friend and bandmate who passed away in february 2020

every star in the sky
beaming down makes me cry
history gets it wrong
its all about timing
what do they know

id like to fix a few things right
wish a friend a goodnight
history gets it wrong
its all about time

i dont wanna go back i just
id just like to visit
maybe there and back somehow
maybe fifty minutes
buy a supersaver
have a little bit of misbehaviour
buy us a return on the time train

i never said, i wish i had
i never did, just too bad
you shook the house, the ducks did fall
you were one of my supporting walls

i dont wanna go back i just
id just like to visit
maybe an afternoon somehow
maybe fifty minutes
buy a supersaver
have a little bit of misbehaviour
buy us a return on the time train

i used to like this time of day

i dont wanna go back i just
id just like to visit
maybe there and back and somehow
maybe fifty minutes
buy a supersaver
have a little bit of misbehaviour
buy us a return on the time train

i never said, i wish i had
i never did, just too bad

I'll take a return ticket on that train too if you don't mind.
What a great song guys.
Super lyrics and music - love the guitars and the vocals especially :)
Manfred Man comes to mind for some reason - that great chorus reminds me of top 40 back in the 60's.

No nits to be found - good collab! :)

Always enjoy your collabs @Nooms & @NeilC Really enjoyed this one as well. A touch of Robery Wyatt in the vocal style. That electric piano works very well and some lovely guitar as might be expected. Another golden nugget

Hi this really is a great song which I've listened to thre times now and it gets better every time. The lyrics and vocals are excellent reflecting the poingnant nostalgia arising after the loss of a good friend.I also think the arrangement and production are 1st class and I love the guitar work throughout.

Really sorry to hear about your friend.

None the less, an absolutely brilliant piece of music. Beautifully written, recorded and performed. I'd love to hear the strings brought up in the mix too!

Sort of a Bowie vibe off this, and I love it! :D

Really enjoyable atmosphere and infectious driving rhythm over typically laid-back but never half-hearted Nooms vocals. Love the Proustian lyrics and the train theme works si well. Great acapella moment. Trademark tight NC guitars and bass... super stuff.

2 of the most talented people on the forum are never going to disappoint when they collaborate. The song has a retro feel and a very warm, affectionate vibe. Loved the guitars layered on top of each other and the harmony vocals. A super piece of music - I could listen to an album of this.

Very Squeeze, I reckon...which is about as good as it gets!

Has bags of personality, tip-top lyrics and a crackerjack guitar solo too!

Great stuff, guys!

@nooms and @Neil C

Ah man,we can never go back, the sentiment so succinctly nailed in nooms lyrics makes us want to at least pay a fleeting visit. Heartachingly poignant.

Great music and playing from Neil. This is a total catchy-fest,as hooky as hell. That chorus is outstanding. Like Paul,I hear the Squeeze thing going on,those boys knew how to write a memorable song.

Sorry for the loss of your pal nooms.

Best ever from you two.  8)

I, too, loved the little a cappella bit. I'd really enjoy hearing more like that from you guys. A great tribute to a friend.

thanks for listening and comments..
sound and the drives down to neil , makes me want to try and reach the energy he puts into it..
a few days after he sent the backing track i got the news of my mate Johns passing which knocked me for six..

im grateful to neil for offering a dedication and for the fact that his backing track was uptempo..could let it out on a high..

Hi Guys,

Yeah - loving the 60s meets more modern vibe; Small faces with a modern twist.
Some delicious guitar work. Love the pause and then back in to the track break.

Vocal has a slightly- off my face feel to it.  :D
Like the lyrics.

Really great tune.
