Cold Easter Rain

I get this picture in my mind
It’s like a film that I rewind
I watch you walk away
A hundred times a day
Why can’t I leave the past behind

Where is the shelter
When love turns to pain
Standing alone
In the Cold Easter Rain

I tell myself it isn’t real
To try to change the way I feel
But every time I do
My thoughts return to you
It’s like a wound that cannot heal

Where is the shelter
When love turns to pain
Standing alone
In the Cold Easter Rain

You held my future in your hand
It slipped away like grains of sand
I guess I’ll never know
Whatever made you go
Maybe I’ll never understand

Where is the shelter
When love turns to pain
Standing alone
In the Cold Easter Rain

That's a damn good chorus mate..excellent, really excellent 8) and nice change around 3.15,
I think you should hold back the distorted guitar in the chorus until the last chorus instead of giving everything away from the get go..then the chorus would build nicely.. :) 8)

super song 8)

Hi, Really like this kind of took me back a few years if you don't mind me saying... reminiscent of OMD in some ways. Strong but simple lyrically with ample despair. Good job 👍

Love the drive in this one. Very smooth vocals and production in general. I like the synths being just synths and not trying to be any other instrument. The way they lead up to chorus sets it off really well. The crashy guitars work well too. Great stuff.

Hi, the percussion in this really grabbed me for some reason - those strong beats right up in the mix carry it along really well.  Other highlights were the vocal melody (great distinction between verse and choruses), the chunky power chords, and the vocal delivery is cool too.  Not sooo keen on the guitar solo... felt a bit out of place in the palette of sounds, would probably have stuck to synths?... but other than that brief detail I really liked this.  Strong confident piece of 80s flavoured pop wizardry.
It's all too beautiful.

I thought this was just a straight-up great song.

The way you sing lines 1,2 and 5 of the verses really lifts the song.

I think maybe if Easter wasn't somehow always such a dull affair...despite being the money shot of Christianity in many ways...it would help make the song even more memorable...but that's a tiny detail that just crossed my mind.

Top drawer!

@Grubstar
Hi,
Enjoyed the song, the production and instrumentation all fitted well with the arrangement.Well sung melody, and the chorus is very good too. Had a touch of the old school electronica about it.

Nice one!

Cheers

Really love the verse melody, and the chorus is equally great, however the vocals are totally lost in the chorus so they really need to come up in the mix (and probably a tad in the verses as well). Love the vocals and the overall soundscape, think overall a little more low end (kick/bass) would balance out the upper registers better. Just my personal preferences shining through I guess, keep or sweep :-)

All in all, one to be proud of, well done!

Hi

Vocals sound really good.
Love the early/mid-80s vibe. Sort of A-Ha meets Ultravox.
Melodies are strong.
Would have been a hit 35 years ago. I mean that as a positive - not saying it sounds outdated. I love 80s music in general and am heavily influenced myself.

Really cool.

Hey there Grubstar............I think the music is just fine, and the lyric is Great. The only nit I have is with the lyric, however. Easter is a time for renewal and rebirth, the coming back to life. With that said, I was looking for some healthy optimism, some rebounding, while standing in that Easter rain. Something to think about ;-)
Anyways......some good stuff, here.....keep on...

Hey, nice song, the lyrics are great, vocals and music also, it may sound like 80's but my ears and I pleased to listen this track.
Have a nice day.

Yep ! This is fab @Grubstar Reminded me of some early 80's synth type stuff "A Flock Of Seagulls" The chorus is really hooky and memorable. Vocals really suit this style as well.
