Hi,
Well its Valentines Day so here's a short romantic tune dedicated to my lovely wife.
Written a couple of years ago and vocals are bit rough round the edges.
Do let me know what you think.

Funny Thing

My heart is a funny thing
Sometimes it makes me cry
It moves you round my body
And I can’t tell you why

My brain is a funny thing
So much bigger than my heart
But size isn’t everything
I’m often not that smart

Strip it back to skin and bones
Take the other stuff away
Its not for me to understand, why you stay

Solo

Our love is such a funny thing
Its lasted all of these years
You laugh at all of my silly jokes
I’ll always be here

Strip it back to skin and bones
Take the other stuff away
I still don’t understand, why you stay

Strip it back to skin and bones
Take the other stuff away
I still don’t understand, why you stay

Hola @Neil C

A song with such simple instrumentation has to have what it has, charm.
I've entertained myself listening!

A really sweet love song Neil. Your wife must have loved it  :-* I like the simple production and the lyrics are charming. I would like to have heard some harmonies at least in the choruses, but then I'm a sucker for BV's  :)

I really love that gentle jazzy blues rhythm guitar which together with all the other subtle licks set off this delicate and slightly oddball romantic song really well. It's very intimate and personal, and I am sure your wife was very chuffed. Nicely expressed throughout.

Hi Neil,

Loving the bass.
Guitar is sweet as ever.

She stays because you write her songs. :D

@Jamie - glad you enjoyed the soppy valentines day vibe

@moraamarolaloba - thank you for your comment about charm

@pompeyjazz - 'simplicity and honesty' great feedback back :-)

@crystalsuzy  - not sure my wife's really heard it, she will come to gigs but she's had nearly 35 years of me playing tunes.. You like harmonies? never..

@shadowfax x - thanks I agree with both comments, I should redo the vocals..

@Bostonfan2 - Why 2? Anyway appreciate your feedback

@MichaelA  - thanks for the comments, although it was written on the piano..

@digger72 - "She stays because you write her songs. :D" my wife laughed at that

Neil,

Lovely, simple direct and from the heart. Subtle, gentle backing, straightforward delivery and a fine tune. Less is more in all things.

@Neil C,

Beautiful from the beginning.  A really delightful atmosphere with space in abundance which always invites a song to shine.  Harmony is really strong and lovely instrumentation.  Your productions go from strength to strength.
