[Sterix]

Written this morning. Got up early because I couldn't sleep. Listened to a few metal songs to wake me up. Was listening to a bit of Kamelot and suddenly stopped to write this. From the off I limited myself with a farily strict rhyming criteria (which fit the tune but made it somewhat awkward to write anything too coherent). But, at the same time, those can be some of the most fun to write.


In the distance
 they are calling you
  to once more make a stand
The resistance
 the reforming truth
  their destruction is at hand

They are crying for a hero
 for someone to take the field
With a chance of less than zero
 and a fate already sealed

In the darkness
 they're imploring you
  to light the way ahead
There is far less
 to what's haunting you
  than the newly wakened dead

Sands are flowing down the funnel
 like tomorrow never comes
There's a light beyond the tunnel
 that is brighter than the sun

Woe betide
 those tonight
  who are walking by your side
   they will fall
    one and all
     one by one
Though they fight
 for the light
  in the end its suicide
   and they fall

Fire and brimstone
 is the backdrop to
  the baying of the crowd
They have been told
 that the end of truth
  will see the risen cowed

Be prepared to burst their bubble
 with the blood of your demise
For the fools and for the stubborn
 still believe the same old lies

Of course you already know that it's way too long for most audiences and/or markets, but DANG, THAT'S GOOD. 

In case anyone here doesn't know it, Sterix is the resident "poet laureate" on this board.  With apologies to the other lyricists, this is the guy musicians should be wanting to work with.

Waaaaoh dude! Thats pretty damn good.
I Think you intended to make it metal song right? Let me tell you. If you Got a rapper on this, it would be a Master piece. I mean The lyrics already is. But to get Them out there, softly spoken/rapped. I get chills just by thinking of it.
