Here's a little, tiny collaboration from me and @pompeyjazz . We had fun with this and hope you enjoy it, too.

Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/pompeyjazz/resolutions

Lyrics here:

RESOLUTIONS

OPTIMIST
I’ve been waiting with anticipation
Wond’ring if you’re also eagerly
Expecting jolly times with presents followed
By a bunch of resolutions

PESSIMIST
No one ever has been able to keep
Longer than it takes to write them down and
Agonize over yet another
Year of failed personal transformation.

OPTIMIST
Still, hope springs eternal in the human breast.
I’ve heard that stranger things have happened
So I’m sure this time it will be diff’rent
And our resolutions will come true

PESSIMIST
But, what if you are wrong and ev’rything falls
All apart and I’m embarrassed?

OPTIMIST
Wait! You need to be more positive,
expecting only successful outcomes.

BOTH
Why not join us in this optimistic
Frame of mind and we will leave the doubters
Far behind in their pessimistic
View of how things will be and we'll be fine.

Yes, aka 'little gem' indeed! Very sweet tennis match between the optimist and pessimist, and as befits the festive time of year, the optimist wins. Hooray.

Well sung and produced too, but alas could have gone on for longer. But why not keep 'em coming back for more, says I. Very joyous folks! Big smiles all around. 😀
My latest novel: pls check it out!

‘Gavin & The Bodysnatchers’, a quirky comedy crime thriller. Easily found on Amazon.

Ah, that's just lovely!  Who needs rhymes... I really liked the way the lyrics are just like spoken words.  And the conversational structure is great - even better when it becomes a harmonised duet at the end.  A song with a proper positive Christimas message.  Beautifully sung by you both and your voices go together really well.  Bound to do very well in the comp.
It's all too beautiful.

As a first time reviewer what a pleasure it was to listen to such a great well produced  song. Loved the contrasting view lyrics and the  singing of  the cheerful upbeat melody and message. I think it could be developed and made a bit  longer though by the inclusion of an instrumental break and outro just a thought but still a terrific song.

WOW Guys! What a fantastic little gem of a song. I love everything about it, but the duet is my fav though  :-*
It's bouncy and makes me feel happy and light hear-ted, every-time I listen to it (even with the pessimistic point of view) :)
I think it's the perfect length, although like others I could have listened to it for much longer :)
Sweet entry and good luck :)

Cool as can be...has a brilliant infectious enthusiasm to it.

Vocals are brilliant from both of you...I really like the way you've both tailored your performances to fit the piece.

Sweet!

AS you can tell from my competition entry, i like a short song. This is superb. From the very ear pleasing beginning, right through.
Remember.... it's just my opinion. It doesn't make me right. Although i probably am ;)
