THE BLUES DONT

id say its good to know you, but you wont thank me for that
theres a snake deliberates ,beneath my hat
no way off the headland, no matter what they said man
when the lights go down..

its cheaper in the winter, cos no one wants to go there
when you get there you wont wanna leave
the tiny shop is closing, maybe im supposing
that the blues dont go anywhere without me

i was following the starlings, lead me to this place
i like a little murmuration and throwing shapes
always on my coat tails couldnt tell you why
that beacon sweeps the hurling waves , a grown mans lullabye

its cheaper in the winter, cos no one wants to go there
but if your losing light you wont wanna leave
the tiny shop is closing, a little bird has spoken
that the blues dont go anywhere without me

im noah vale and im yachtless
i should be blessing my soul , ill never be, lonely
call me mr harshly dunbye, burying a dream
the blues dont, go anywhere, without me.

Hi @nooms and @Neil C

You guys are knocking out some top quality collaborations. I was just listening to "Want My Share" again the other day. I love the sleazy, laid back feel to this with that unmistakeable Nooms vocal and the whole thing just sounds like it's so easy for you guys. Some lovely guitar work here with funky elements and a great bass line. Keep em coming guys as I'm really enjoying them  :)

Some great guitar work here (and bass guitar). I like the instrumental drop-out in the second half of the 2nd chorus, reminding listeners of the introduction once more.

The laid-back vocal suits the song, background harmony vocals are subtle and have been well delivered. Good chorus build up to the key lyric ”the blues don’t go anywhere without me”.

 A well-crafted & performed piece!

Wotcha - @nooms - I just love your voice, very infectious, and perfectly suited to the songs you sing. I can't think of anything you need to do with this, super guitar work.

Lavly.

Hi guys, nice collaboration! Steely Dan vibe to the playing and a Paul Buchanan (The Blue Nile) vibe to the vocals. Love it!

Cheers

Yo @Neil C and @nooms

As ever Neil, great sounding guitars, very tastefully played man.

Nooms vocals add that touch of the usual and the exotic. Love those twisting, turning wonderfully oblique lyrics. The listener can try to figure them out,or just enjoy the roll and the flow of the words.

With snakes under hats and birdlife mentioned,I reckon it's about a bad safari experience.  :)

A couple of minor points,if I may be so rude? I'd like nooms vocal up a teeny bit when the backdrop gets busy and I thought the sudden ending let the track down a little.

That aside fellas,much enjoyed.  8)

Hi, All

Thanks for listening and your great feedback

John, I don't know if it is easy for us, nooms spends a long time working things out once I send him a demo backing, but I have to agree it does sound like its meant to be!
And there is at least one more in bespoke development and then one more to complete our second EP :-)

Steve, thanks for the listen and comments, yes as you said its all to build to the payoff line..

Shadowfax, thanks delighted it hit that funkometer!

CPM, thanks a lot for those kind words

Paul, Steely Dan is praise indeed. Re vocals I'm, not up to speed with the Blue Nile, I hear a little bit of Elbow without the Manc accent..

Bin, thanks for your thoughts and I agree with the comments about nooms vocals too

Paulski, 'This stuff is in a class of its own guy' wow thanks for that

Skub - 'wisting, turning wonderfully oblique lyrics' indeed. I'll look at the mix and ending.
songwriter of no repute..

Top quality tune.

Early lyric reminded me of a toy my kids used to have whereby if you pulled the string...Woody from Toy Story would exclaim "there's a snake in my boot" or something

Vocal and lyric is really loaded with character and cool lines.

Guitars and Bass are brilliant and I thought the strings were super and added a new dimension too.

@Neil C  and @nooms

Cool, minimal production. Ideal introduction before the vocals come in. Bass, guitar and drums leading to "cheaper in the winter" are ideal. "The blues don't go anywhere without me. that's a great lyric.  highlights for me are the restrained guitar that builds as the track progresses. Nooms as ever, you're an intriguing lyricist/vocalist and melody writer.  Production is crystal clear. I always love the addition of backing vocals. Attention to detail that shows you have gone the extra mike and cared for the song that has been presented.

Quality work guys!

Wow - this is super! Great vocal and such a cool vibe to the whole song. That guitar work is fantastic! I'm guessing from the comments that you guys collaborate a lot? It shows - you make a great team! I'll be checking out some of your other stuff for sure. Really enjoyed this!

Like this very much.  Particularly the lyrics.  The title is one of those that just insists you listen to the track... 'The Blues Don't... what?' You have to listen to find out.  I was at first fearful we'd be in for a 12 bar pattern from the title but actually I love the chord progressions and Neil's distinctive playing shines through too.  Classy track, great vocal, very balanced production - and them lyrics will stick with me.
It's all too beautiful.
