Just read through this thread and my head is spinning got absolutely no idea what your all talking about

Boy, don't I feel like that myself sometimes... 

I'm sure you're doing a brilliant job without knowing much of this bland terminology. Sometimes a good set of ears is just all you need. 

I have to do a little defence of harmonic theory and musical analysis here. In no way do you need them to do something absolutely beautiful.

But I have found that truly great music is only more beautiful as you start to analyse it and break it down. There just more beauty to be found!!

Songs that don't come home to the tonic are like chapters in a book read without reading the whole book.
