OK guys.
Sterix' track: I've created a dropbox with all the stems in it, including a rather lovely bassline from Mr @PaulAds . @Sterix @pompeyjazz @Paulski @PaulAds thanks for sending me your email addresses, you should all have received a link to the dropbox.  @Wicked Deeds yes great if you can chip in too, send me your email address.  At this point though I am handing over the production baton to @pompeyjazz who has kindly offered to mix things so if you could let John know about anything you add that'd be cool.  John, I've just panned everything back to the middle for the stems, don't feel obliged to use everything of course, the whole kitchen sink is still in there.  It's still my voice in there as a placeholder but Martin is polishing his take on it.
@Neil C great, I am glad I wasn't imagining it!  I see you have taken it off soundcloud for now but I've inserted you in the running order like this as I remembered it being a mellow take on the theme that would fit really well between The Comfortably Strange and The Funeral Crasher:

1. No Time to Die: Paul Vasey
2. It’s Time to Die: Pompeyjazz
3. License to Survive: Lutehill (music/lyrics Adam Farr)
4. To All Things a Season: Commodore 64
5. The Wolf: Pebble Wreck
6. You Ain’t Gonna Die: The South Coast Massive
7. No Time to Die: Sterix and the Forum Band
8. A Cut Above: Paul Tarle a.k.a. Paul Canuck
9. No Time to Die: The Comfortably Strange
10. No Time to Die: Neil Connor
11. Blowback : The Funeral Crasher

OK I think that just leaves the artwork for me to finish when Boydie gets me the tweaked logo and we close the poll on the album title... please vote if you haven't already (two options are currently tying).
It's all too beautiful.

Yes John sorry, 100bpm.  Sterix likes "Goldeneye" which is 102 so I stuck close to that...

I spent some time today trying to lay down vocals but I'm not having much luck (some bar stweard gave their child a vuvazela - or similar - which they decided to unleash upon the world for a couple of hours straight - I did find myself considering the consequences of infanticide for a time...

When I finally got some peace and quiet, and got something down the rhythm seems to go all to pot (ie. when I listened to it back with the music track the second verse seemed to be out of sync...)

I'll persevere (although this hot, sticky weather isn't helping much).

All stems download from the dropbox successfully including @PaulAds bass track. I will try and get an initial mix together when I can face working in the furnace that my studio has become  :)

Here's an initial mix of the @Sterix / @PaulyX song, (With Paul's vocals atm) although I've got somebody having fun with an electric drill next door so not able to hear to well even with phones   >:( >:(

All comments regarding the mix gratefully received as ever. Will work some more on this number when it's a bit quieter

It's a fab song. I need to work on the mix as there is a lot of stuff in there that deserves highlighting  :)

@pompeyjazz

Cururrent lyrics below - sorry, perfectionist at work! Actually, partly because I saw some inprovements and partly because I was having a bugger of a time getting the end part right. :P

I'm trying get a vocal that does it justice which I'll hopefully get over later today.

Winter rages
Her frozen kisses poison on your lips
The choice you make is
To wage the war or close your eyes, give in
Your destination
The end of everything you’ve ever known
In contemplation:

You make your move and hold your breath
Prepare to dive into the depths

It’s hard to break this vicious circle
You have been here so many times
They try to take you, try to hurt you
But still you stand and face the tide
And this is no time to die

In the shadows
Their eyes see everything you try to hide
Stare at the gallows
A fate that you have dodged time after time
I tried to warn you
You bleed like any other mortal man
And will they mourn you

When everything comes crashing down
And you’re alone on hallowed ground?

It’s hard to break this vicious circle
You have been here so many times
They try to take you, try to hurt you
But still you stand and face the tide
And this is no time to die

When the illusion
Is finally revealed
When all the dust has settled
Whose fate will have been sealed?

You have to play the hand they’ve dealt you
So place your bet and take your aim
It’s all you know, and you were meant to
Defeat the house at its own game

It’s time to break the vicious circle
You have been here too many times
They try to take you, try to hurt you
But still you stand and face the tide

You play for pride!
And this is no time to die
There’s nowhere to hide
So stand and fight!

Cos in the end you know inside
It’s just no time to die

@Sterix That's great  :) I will hold fire doing too much work on the mix until I receive your vocals. It's a fabulous song   :)

@pompeyjazz @PaulyX

I've had a TORRID time with the vocals I can tell you! I have literally sung this bloody song hundreds of times (okay, exaggerating a tad but it feels that way). I've finally got a copy into the dropbox folder (I'm not sure if you'll be able to see/access it because when I try to "share" it I can only seem to add PaulyX and it suggests only he and I can see it - let me know if you can't and will work out a different method of getting it to you).

That said, I'm not too happy with it - mainly because it seems to have picked up it's own tempo, which is out with how I know I sung it (wanted to hear how it sounded played back in time to the music). I'm not sure what (if anything) you can do about that or if it's worth trying to manipulate it anyhow.

You may think (I certainly do at times!) that it will probably be better having someone else sing it who has better equipment than I do...

@Sterix I'll have a look in the dropbox folder and let you know if I can find the vocal. Look forward to seeing you later  :)

@Sterix I've had a look in the folder that @PaulyX shared with me and can't find your vocal there. If you could send me a link to the folder whewre you have placed the file I should be able to grab it then

Cheers

John

I've moved it to the Sterix Bond Stems folder where hopefully you will now see it (I just realised I'd put it in a folder you can't see!). It's called NT2D v3000.m4p (I totally forgot the program I uses only saved in that format - if it's a problem, let me know!).

If you still can't see it, can send a link to download from my OneDrive.
