Great stuff @adamfarr looking forward to hearing it.
Sorry I've not been very forum active recently, like everyone else just dealing with all the weirdness going on in the world at the mo.  Stay safe & healthy & creative everyone.
Anyway though, still excited about our Bond album.  10 days to go... get em finished guys.
@PaulAds yep I think we'll have just about the right amount for an album.  Unless I've missed any so far I think we have contributions from @pompeyjazz , PaulAds, @LostBoy , @digger72 , and @Wicked Deeds already so that's 5 (and they are all awesome), Adam and I will both get one in... there are rumours of incoming from the SouthCoastMassive so that's 8, plus @Sterix @Neil C @Andyb @Paulski @CaliaMoko @5 guys named Lars all intimated they might be working on something and I may have missed a couple (apologies if so... still catching up here).  So we're heading towards 8-12 tracks or so I reckon. @Boydie massive thanks for offering to master... what will you need - tracks in WAV / lossless format or something?
It's all too beautiful.

@PaulyX All I would need is a high quality stereo file (eg WAV) that is mixed WITHOUT any mastering effects (eg compression, EQ or limiting across the whole track - treating individual tracks within the mix is fine) and the volume of the track should ideally leave some "headroom" from mastering

Nowadays as long as the file does not clip (exceed 0dB) then all is fine

However, to provide some guidance to "catch all" I would say a good rule of thumb is to have the mix make the Master/Main meters bounce around the -9dB mark

Boydie,
Thanks for that and for doing the mastering.
I iterate a mix and master till I'm happy. I use Ozone.

Q: what does -9db look like and where will I find it?
I assume you'd use a dropbox, just let us know closer to the time, after I've written it :-)
Cheers

If you want to do your own mastering then that is absolutely fine - in this case just make sure there is no clipping

I am offering to master each track so you would only need to get it to the mix stage and not do any mastering at all

In this case when you do your mix you are aiming for the final meters on your master bus or main output to be bouncing around the -9dB range on the meters (usually virtual LEDs)

This might sound quite quiet to some but it is good practice to mix at these low levels and simply turn up your monitoring to get the volume you want to hear

This keeps you well away from clipping and volume can be added during the mastering

plus Sterix ... intimated they might be working on something
Unfortunately I was just limited to the lyrics (had a kick-ass tune to go with it but no skillz/equipment to take it any further. So that's me out I'm afraid.

Not me, unfortunately. Much as I'd love to, I would need much better production skills--I think the production is very important on this one. I think I may treat myself to a course on production one of these days....

I know I'm not in the compo but I thought I'd give you a little insight into what I had written for my version of the song. I was so desperately trying to hold back a cough towards the end I got a little out of tune (or more so than the rest, depending on your take).

Please don't call the police and try to have me arrested for GAH (Grevious Aural Harm) on your ears! :D

Winter rages
Her frozen kisses poison on your lips
The choice you make is
To wage the war or close your eyes, give in
Your destination
The end of everything you’ve ever known
In contemplation:

You make your move and hold your breath
Prepare to dive into the depths

It’s hard to break the vicious circle
You have been here so many times
They try to break you, try to hurt you
But still you stand and face the tide
And this is no time to die

In the shadows
Their eyes see everything your try to hide
Stare at the gallows
A fate that you have dodged time after time
I tried to warn you
You bleed like any other mortal man
And will they mourn you

When everything comes crashing down
And you’re alone on hallowed ground?

It’s hard to break the vicious circle
You have been here so many times
They try to break you, try to hurt you
But still you stand and face the tide
And this is no time to die

When the illusion
Is finally revealed
When all the dust has settled
Whose fate will have been sealed?

It’s time to play the hand they’ve dealt you
To place your bet and take your aim
It’s all you know, and you were meant to
Defeat the house at its own game

It’s hard to break the vicious circle
You have been here so many times
They try to break you, try to hurt you
But still you stand and face the tide

You play for pride

And this is no time to die

There is nowhere left to hide
So stand and fight!

Cos in the end you know inside
That this is just no time to die

I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a competition. I tbought it was just a writing challenge.

Yes no winners or judging @Wicked Deeds - the deadline's just so we can start producing the album.
@Sterix that vocal demo sounds really good!  You can obviously hear it all playing out in your head.  Wow, I can never imagine melodies that clearly without instruments behind them.  Your voice is good too... you should sing more of your own stuff?
It's all too beautiful.

@Sterix that’s super good - you’re a great singer and the song works really well (love the little bond riffs you threw in too).

Hedge trimming and dinner have got in the way a bit of mine today (bet JB doesn’t have those problems) so tomorrow it will be (probably)!
