Finally finished my 2nd EP !

(1/3) > >>

Andyb:
The completion of this track "Tame the sun" marks the final song in my 2nd 5 track EP and what an absolute B*** it was.
I'm a music first / lyrics last kinda guy and this song was actually written and tracked nearly a year ago for my first EP but I just couldnt get a vocal on it. I kept coming back to it and still nothing, wrote 4 other tracks for this EP... and kept coming back to it ... but still nothing. I almost gave up on it completely but I was determined to se it through even if it wasn't the best song I,ve ever done. Hit the music room on Monday night with a view to just getting a verse and I wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals in an hour or so. Tuesday night was a washout. Wednesday was chorus night... blitzed it in half an hour.. job done.. the verse hmmm maybe could have been better, pretty chuffed with the hooky chorus though

PaulyX:
Loads of energy again here.  I like the thin sound of the guitar playing the main riff - mosquito-esque!  Great title too - "Tame the Sun", there's a bold statement of intent.  I liked the breakdown around 2:50 too... great "half solo" there (there's something cool about solos that are ear-wormy but don't show off too much, ya know? A few nice simple notes repeated - lovely).  Congrats on the completion of the EP.  Stick a link on here if it will be downloadable etc.  PS Can you post the lyrics to this?

Andyb:
Well I did the solo on a bass (like everything else) hence not too fancy lol.
Ep is on bandcamp and pending Spotify etc

The song is about climate change and more specifically the pressures put on us all to do our bit bit (and we should) but we are pissing in the wind unless it changes at a corporate level
Lyrics:
Clear your head, ignore the signs
There's something soothing in her cries
A world apart, on broken ground
There's nothing sacred where we're bound
Solid state, or fragile mind?
Is it too late for human kind?
Torch the earth, and pray for rain
And curse the sun we'll never tame

And we can't change the world
Despite all our promises
The Whispers that you've heard
Will always let you down
You've broken every word
Despite every consequence
The truth will let you down
The truth will let you down

Tell yourself you're not to blame
And we'll all smile and do the same
Well close our eyes, and cover ears
And realise our greatest fears
We've made our choice, but can we turn?
Against the tides of modern man
Is it too late ? We'll die in vain
And curse the sun we'll never tame

MonnoDB:
Another grabby number @Andyb - I love your sound! Really like those lyrics and sentiment...

Oh and congrats on the album! Stick up the link when it's on the streaming services too?

I listened to this one a while ago and thought it was great. I'm listening again now and still think so. Good job on the lyrics. I know that's not your favorite part, but they work with the music really well. It's intense. Cinematic in a chase scene way. Really cool, Andy. Congrats on your second EP!
