Hi, a song about leaving a dead Earth to find a new planet...

https://soundcloud.com/knmac/solar-wind-by-knmac

We drift through outer space,
to save the human race,
we catch the solar wind,
that drives us to our fate

our world is left behind,
no place for human kind
it was so long ago,
no more is in our mind.

we praise the solar wind x4

we don't know our destiny,
as we glide through strange galaxies,
we know, we sale alone,
to a world of uncertanty..

we praise the solar wind x4

best, Kevin :)

Yo Kev.

I'm currently reading a sci-fi series set in a dying planet earth and involving the exodus to a a distant new planet. The only downside is,the new home planet is an elaborate trap to lure humanity there so that aliens may use them for food! So your song has struck a chord with me in more than one way!

Great work man,you have unearthly skills when it comes to emotion laden music.  8)

Very nice. Loved the whole feel of the track and the production is great, as usual. I'm not suggesting the song should have went full-on at any point, but I think it could have been amazing if the vocals really went soaring on the final chorus, maybe with an extra layer or two of backing vox. Still really enjoyable as it is though.

I really liked the reverb-heavy opening.  I thought this was very filmic.  Liked the effects on the guitars in the solo touches ... they sound slightly strangled (in a good way... the effect fits the song topic).  Maybe it lacks a big belting chorus but I don't think that's what you were aiming for with this one?  More of an atmosphere piece than something to sing along to?  As such, it worked really well for me.
It's all too beautiful.

Liking this, with its stately feel, supports the title.
The vocals are very good as ever
I thinks its smart not to crowd the track with too much backing, it just lets the melody and rhythms take to you away.
And nice restrained touches of synths and guitars.

woah - great cinematic feel to this one.
I love that circular chord progression - never seems to resolve - like we're left floating in space admiring the universe around us  :D
Find a nit? Not gonna happen from this keyboard.  :D

Hi,

The atmosphere of the piece is consistent with the explored theme. I really like the overall sound and the finesse of the accompaniment. There is a real progression: I love the electronic drum input for example. It comes at the right time. The voice is good, I like the grain and the interpretation.
In short, it's a very good piece in my opinion  :)

Cinematic indeed. It has that drifting feel as if... well, on a solar wind, and really takes us there. Very Knmac, but very much serving the theme and the title. Great job.

The dreamy reverb room really helps create the atmospheric mood to this, along with those fabulous guitar sounds and restrained playing. As others have noted, it's very soundtrack like and maybe it's a fair shout for you to go pitch this to music supervisors. The production level in itself is too notch.

Hi Kev @shadowfax - production is always cracking with your work, bet you had fun with your fx on this one. You and @Skub are on the same planet, as it were.

For me it sounded like it was building to a M8 which never came, if you know what I mean. I can hear it's a lot of work...

I always wondered who the girl is in your photos...a relative maybe?

Guitar intro is perfect and sets the scene.

Great soundscape and wowzer production as always. Vocal is top-notch too.

Struck a chord with me as well...as I’ve just re-read Dave McGowans “wagging the moon doggie” again. Some guy on the internet did an audio version, and I listened through twice back to back.

We’ve got no chance of going to another planet for an awfully long time...unless there’s some secret technology we haven’t been told about. We can’t even go “back” to the moon...despite 50 years of incredible scientific advancement.

Time for my tablet....

Great evocative song, Kev.

Hi Kevin,

Loving the clarity in the mix - adds to the overall atmosphere.
Great build from the intro into the body of the song - think I might have been tempted to keep building on and on, though that would have probably lost that otherworldlyness. (Is that a word?)

Cool tune indeed.
