Old timey country song.  ;D
That's the only genre that came to mind after I wrote these cheesy lyrics  ;D
If you have time to listen - I thank you!

The Flip Side of Lonely

Grillin' these burgers in the hot summer sun
I'll turn each one over when its bottom is done
Folks say I cook with a fine recipe
And they say the same thing to describe you and me

'Cause the flip side of lonely is a wonderful life
That We spend together as husband and wife
One side is golden - the other is blue
And the flip side of lonely is you

We get out our old records - fire the turn-table up
Oh they sound so much better than that digital stuff
Yeah, these old 45's hold the hits from the past
But the songs that we like are the ones on the back

'Cause the flip side of lonely is a wonderful life
We spend together - husband and wife
One side is gold and the other's the blues
The flip side of lonely is you

Now it's starting to rain - we better head to the house
But our love is the same on the inside and out
And there ain't any doubt
No, there ain't any doubt that

The flip side of lonely is a wonderful life
That we'll spend together - forever in time
The side that you're on is the side that I choose
'Cause the flip side of lonely is you

The side that you're on is the one that I choose..
'Cause the flip side of lonely Is you!

LOVE this, on a cold bank holiday, this lifted my spirit.

Just perfect Country Song, interesting Mid8, you might give @montydog a shout for a Pedal Steel, he'll add the missing Twang...

Thanks very much, I'm guessing that's either a Taylor or Martin.

Very polished work Paul.

Country not my thing either but I still really enjoyed it. The structure is perfect, lyrics are fantastic, production is great. I can usually find something to be picky with or something that could have been done differently, but not this time. A hearty "well done".

Very true to the genre - very sweet song and clever lyrics and I agree they match perfectly!  Very well played and produced. Wonderful stuff!

Yo Paul.

A proper AWEthentic Keyuntry choon, with slick pie-annie and everyfing.  8)

No cheese on this burger,as ever your clever lyrics neatly eliminate that from the recipe and it always sounds like you mean what you sing.

Neatly done y'old romantik dawg!  8)

Yo @Paulski  You're an absolute maestro at this genre and you've completely nailed it. I could just be in Nashville listening to this. Extremely well put together, You've got those heart strings a tugging  :) Loved those tinkling ivories. Loved the SC pic BTW  ;D

Not my genre but you make a very listenable song here.
Maybe the first straight up country song I've enjoyed from start to finish.
Well done Paul.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

There's a generous portion of cheese on those burgers! But I love it, really charming and love something celebrating that gentle domestic happiness.

Really super middle section that sounds like a key change but actually leads us home. Trying to say something musically there?
Great production, lovely piano work.

Just loved it! :)

What an original motif... to make a love song out of the idea of 'turning things over'.  Don't know where you find the ideas Paulski, but keep em coming.
Yeah, I'm of the camp that there was plenty of cheese on the burgers, but it goes with the genre territory, doesn't it?  To not do that would be like heavy metal without guitars or reggae without the off-beat.  It's so on-genre it's like putting on a pair of comfortable slippers... one of those songs you can almost sing along to the first time around.  As ever, very well sung, clever wry lyrics and excellent production.
It's all too beautiful.

Flipping brilliant!!🤪 i was singing it by the end. I always have the feeling that when I'm listening to your stuff Paul, that I'm already listening to an already old classic.😁🎶👍🏻🎶  the flip side however, is that you're probably NOT rich, filling stadiums, thousands of people singing along with ya....still its nice to know that the talents there. Great job man.😁🎶👊🏻🎶

@cowparsleyman cheers for that - yep a steel guitar would work for sure and @montydog would be the man to play it  :D Actually the acoustic is a Godin (Canadian made!) My kids gave it to me for xmas one year and I love its guts  ;D

@shadowfax thanks Kevin - nothing better than a thumbs up from a non-country fan  :D

@Bankie - cheers Bankie - means a lot to hear that!

@MonnoDB - thanks for the kind comments - esp on the cheese-laden lyrics  ;D

@Skub - cheers Davey - Old romantic dawg? Guilty on all counts!  :D

@pompeyjazz - thanks John - I don't know about maestro though ;D

@Rightly - thanks rightly - glad you suffered through to the end. I had to too - numerous times.

@tboswell - thanks Tom - happy you liked the fromage layer. Just trying to come up with a different M8 progression - glad to hear it worked OK for you.

@PaulyX - cheers Paul - yep cheese on a country burger - defo not the first time that happened. Thanks for the kind remarks. ;D

@LostBoy - thanks! Most of my melodies are (probably) stolen from the old classics as you may have guessed.  ;D You're right about the not being rich part too. cheers for listening  ;D
