Hi everyone, after over a year of being off the forum and not having written a single thing I'm finally back and very happy about it!
I was in a bad relationship for the last year that stifled my creativity and I didn't do anything about it. But, I'm now out the other end and ready to write again!

So, here's my first ever attempt at electronic stuff with my new song: To Be Lost.

https://soundcloud.com/user-534764711/to-be-lost

Lyrics:

Chorus:

If I wander off don't find me, I want to be lost.

If I wander off don't find me, I want to be lost.

If I wander off don't find me, I want to be lost.

If I wander off don't find me, I want to be lost.

Verse:
It's always hard  to...
Find yourself with a mirror.
When hurting is normal
And pain is just reality.
So I cut myslef to find myself,
Amidst the sense of loss.

Chorus:

If I wander off don't find me, I want to be lost.

If I wander off don't find me, I want to be lost.

If I wander off don't find me, I want to be lost.

If I wander off don't find me, I want to be lost.

Welcome back dude, sounds like you've had quite a year, hope you are OK.
This one sounded a lot darker and more industrial than I remember of your stuff.  Fans of Nine Inch Nails would dig this I think?  I liked it too... particularly the percussion choices you've made.  I really liked the monotone delivery of the vocal in the chorus (it felt like a mantra) but by the time it came to the verse, I wanted the melody to shift a little bit, you know?  Then I think returning to the monotone for the second chorus would be more powerful.  That's just me though, great to hear you experimenting with some new angles here.  I also really liked the loooong fade out / decay at the end.  I can imagine this tee-ing up the next track on an album superbly!
It's all too beautiful.

I saw the long fade-out on the SoundCloud graph thingy and thought "hmm, that's a bit long", but when it came, I can see it was a good decision. Enjoyed it and thought it sounded quite filmic. That would be from a disturbing film that gives you nightmares.

Rather inventive; hope you try doing more like this.

Love it David, I thought you bought the original mini moog, could be a Zappa meets some of thelate 70's experimental pre joy division stuff.

You could get arrested carrying that fade out around in London..

Very dark and hypnotic.

Great tune and interesting to listen to.

Love the electric pianos.

Thanks so much for the replies guys, it really is good to be back. I look forward to having a browse through your guys stuff too :D

Basically there are only three instruments in this. the bass and the drums are done using an Akai Rhythmwolf. The cymbal sound is a real trashy old cymbal I have lying around and then theres the resonator guitar track in the background.

All of the drone/swirly pad sounds you can hear are super effected pick slides.

Hello!
Awesome! the rhythm in those verse lyrics is great. Like mentioned above, the outro is right on!
