Here's my entry into the Spring Quest :) A family member did the backing track and when I heard it I liked it so much, I asked him if I could add some lyrics and melody. It all came about so effortlessly. I had no idea what the song would be about, but I just started singing along with the track and there it was...both melody and lyrics together :) I love it when that happens :-* It was like it was being channeled :o
I'm still working on the mix, vocals, timing etc. so any suggestions are most appreciated   :-[

Last night I had a dream; I was lost and all alone
I couldn’t find myself, or my way back home
Nothing felt familiar; nothing felt the same
I couldn’t feel the sun; I couldn’t feel the rain

Sleep walking; angels watching me, take my first steps
Hold me tight, don’t let me go, don’t let me be alone, tonight

The first time you wake, upon a falling star
Time stands still and you wonder where you are
You dance on Saturn’s rings and fall into the clouds
silence echo’s through, the galaxy so loud

Sleep walking; angels watching me, take my first steps
Hold me tight, don’t let me go, don’t let me be alone tonight

I can see clearly now, you and I, we know how
To catch this falling star and set it free
Suspended in the light, you and me
Angles in this sea, flying
Loving   for eternity
Falling into you, Falling into me

Sleep walking; angels watching me, take my first steps
Hold me tight, don’t let me go, don’t let me be alone tonight

What an intriguing song CS...it´s very different to your normal stuff. It even has a normal structure (at least up until 2:30)  ;)

I think this is a great song - It´s very ambient with a really nice synth structure. The real plus of the song are the lyrics though - they have some amazing imagery in them. I´m guessing it´s a love song, but not 100% sure.

As you mentioned, I can tell you recorded the vocals quite quickly, as they waver in places - I think you should take the time to fix them and add some of those gorgeous harmonies you come up with. This song definitely deserves it as it´s one of your best.

Yes, you're right, it is quite different for me, but not totally foreign to me :o I have written many songs that follow the normal structure; just not recently ::)
thanks for the thumps up on the lyrics. I'm leaving the interpretation up to the listener. If you want it to be a love song, then it's a love song :-*

@MartynRich I've redone some of the vocals, so it you have a chance let me know if it sounds any better :) :) How's the mix sound?

Quite ethereal and different from you..at once a 60's and modern sound, found the arp a bit distracting somethimes though..seemed to be fighting with the vocal sometimes, :)

best, Kevin :)

so very creative.
beautiful.
the change late in the second half is okay but I'd have liked to had heard the whole thing without this event. Good as it is, just my personal preference.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

I really liked the synths on this, they had a lovely fluttering analogue quality, a bit like early Depeche Mode. Good ethereal lyrics too... a bit psychedellic. Good track!
It's all too beautiful.

 Hi Suzy,

Excellent song.  Love it when you sing in that high voice.  Gives it the Alice in Wonderland feel, that is all over your stuff ;D ;D ;D
Especially liked the counter melodies toward the end....very hooky ;D

@crystalsuzy - Very nice, your voice sounds so so much better without those fx...

Nice melody, maybe not have the tracking BVox through the Verses, only use them in the Choruses, it adds more contract.

Very nice work by Larry.

A bit different from you @crystalsuzy I love the arp synth and the synth riff that's going on. Your vocals and bv's are cleverly dispersed to create a really dreamy quality. Like the dance synth interlude as well. What a clever track. Fab work  :)

thanks so much Kevin. The backing track was meant to be an instrumental and didn't have the stems, just a mp3 file, so couldn't play around with the levels, so that's probably why it sounds like that to you :)

so very creative.
beautiful.

thanks so much rightly, I'm assuming you mean the faster bridge. I had a hard time fitting vocals into that part, but because I didn't do the backing track, I couldn't change it. I quite like it now though :)

Yo CS.

I love that first half of a dreamy, hypnotic meandering vibe.

It took me a little while to get used to the step up in tempo, but dreams can be like that and on reflection I can live with the change in context.

Overall it's a very potent listen and much enjoyed.  :)

This is really beautiful. Dreamy quality to the vocals..yeah,it more conventional perhaps than what we often hear from you...but that's anything but a negative.

Very good lyrically too...leaving the listener to paint their own picture to a degree...which I'm always a fan of.

Lovely.
