After the success of "Last Man Standing" and the world tour (phew !) @Binladeda and myself decided to head back into the studio to record a follow up. We've stuck with the BigW genre, so lots of geetars for you all to digest.

Lyrically, it's a retrospective look on how we might have done things differently if we were a bit wiser (but of course we're not and that's the joy of life !)

Enjoy  :)

If our time had come again
What would we do as wiser men ?

We could rock, oh we could roll
We could boogie out on soul

Could we have our time again ?
We could do it right as wiser men

Living life way too fast
But this party ain't going to last

Flashing lights, party nights, never ending
Far away destinations, never flexing
Working hard, playing dirty with our money

We could rock, oh we could roll
We could boogie out on soul
Live each moment like you're last
You ain't coming back, you're going way too fast

If our time had come again
What would we do as wiser men ?

Hi Guys,

Well this is the business.
Great guitar work.
Hard to pigeonhole the genre - has so many elements. Starts dark - my kind of vibe, then we get that heavy, hard rock riffing - then something totally different. Epic really for under 4 minutes.

Nice edge to the vocal.

Accomplished stuff.

Love the instrumentation and lyrics on this. The changes and structure are very original and it even has an outro! You don´t hear those very often these days. Vocal delivery very powerful as ever John, and some of those guitar rhythms throughout the middle part of the song are as funky, tight and genius as hell. I really like it...

Can't say why but this reminded me of the band Lifetime, with Jack Bruce and that McLaughlin guy...maybe it's the sheer madness of it..who knows 8)
anyway..loved Lifetime and loved this. :) 8)

Wow, that bass really kicks! I am surprised you had time or energy to do this after the exhaustion of the world tour! :)

This one has a stadium dimension to it, real guts and punch, so will no doubt be on the next tour's set list! I liked how the break towards the end contrasted nicely and calmed things down though, and therefore helped emphasise the manic 'wiser men' outro. The emphatic drum finale is quite a triumph.
My latest novel: pls check it out!

Hello !

I really like this song ! The voice reminds me Bowie, a little, and I like it. The rock side is brought in gradually, that’s great. The guitars are very good : lead guitar, and licks well mixed right and left. The battery sound is excellent, really professional.

To be constructive, I would say that the voice is a little too early in the beginning on the verse, in my opinion, but it is a small detail.

Very good job !

I like this.
I like the theme. It's something that's been on my mind just lately.

This still seems like a beginning. Pompey your production rate is so damn fast, I'm not sure if it's always the best thing to be fast.

"Working hard, playing dirty with our money".
That's a really cool line.

You guys are an asset to the forum. Very inspiring. I like the unfinished works, they set me off.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

And there you have it.

Yo pomps and Herr Bin.

It's a rocker! Love those pig squeal guitar riffs and the Ozzy style ominous intro. No wonder Bin has no ears left! Magic stuff.

Lyrically,I have my doubts, since neither of the two of ya are half wise and never will be.  :P

Which is cool.  :D

Yep, this one's a bit of an epic! It's a winner on account of plentiful displays of rockmanship... Keith Moon on drums, Billy Duffy on guitar. There's something a little off kilter and dystopian about it too, that gives it an original edge. Rock on, dudes.
It's all too beautiful.

Sounds like both of you firing on all cylinders...which is quite a thing to hear!

Mega quality stuff. The intro left me feeling that I'd walked into a trap :)

I won't ramble on pointlessly. I think this is as good as folks like us could ever hope to do.

Thanks all once again for the (as ever) invaluable feedback

@digger72 Yes, I guess it's a bit of a genre mash up now thinking about it

@MartynRich Cheers Martyn, never really though about the outro but you're dead right. Couldn't resist a little funky interlude

@shadowfax Cheers Kev - Huge compliment  :)

@MichaelA Having a long rest after the world tour - I think I used some death metal drum midi for the outro, made it a bit manic  ;D

@Inanité_sonore Merci mon ami - We had great fun doing this

@Rightly Of course you're right, fast is not always good but I can't seem to work any other way  :)

@Skub Pig squeals  ;D They are delicious - Wise ? No  ;D

@PaulyX It was a tough gig getting those guys to play on this one

@PaulAds Thank you Paul - That's one huge compliment

Thank you all  :)

You guys certainly have a rather deep well of talent to draw from and musically this oozes quality with a great, clean production and soulful vocals. I think the song lacks melodic ideas and cohesion but I guess this matters more to me than many others. Sorry but this one didn't float my boat.
