Hi all.

This is a bit of a cathartic number. Needed to dig into the Heart and Soul of Micky Plankton and the Glasgow Yeti after the Frankenstein that was Chimpanzee no 65. This is a song that is meant to be played at number 11 - so don't listen to this on Sunday morning!

Edit: 7.4.19 - Ive rerecorded the song following the initial feedback.

The original post from 4.4.19 is here:

Lyrics:

From whence it came nobody knows, A plague in the West or so it goes
Preys on the young, preys on the poor forever wanting more

We didnt listen to the scientists
we didnt talk to the communists
we dismissed all the socialists
all we had were narcissists

A Historian knew, where we went wrong, we should have known all along
The Davos elite all closed ranks, and everyones future tanks.

Wake up, wake up your planet needs you.......

Hello,

I listened to it this morning Friday and it goes very well  ;)

It's a great piece, simple and efficient and I like it. Your voice reminds me a little Joe Strummer.
I find the instrumental break a bit long (but maybe it's because I like the voice) and the solo guitar not enough forward, but it's just my humble opinion.

Excellent song !

Like the song, like the main riff but feel it should've been coming from both sides with room in the middle for the vocal, I agree with the previous post that the lead break seems a bit lost among the general instrumentation...all this is personal taste and may not matter...

Great Stuff Micky - This rocks for sure. Vocals are really good, Mark E Smith, eat your heart out. I must say that your production work has really come on in leaps and bounds. There are a couple of things that I would do mix wise but it's all personal preference as you know. Firstly I would play an identical guitar part and pan that exactly opposite where you have the existing one. Secondly I would get the bass dead in the centre. That's no real criticism. I though this was absolutely great  :)

Nice slice of retro punk, back to the straight up energy I expect from your songs. I liked the mayhem as it built and then that sing-out extra chorus was surprising and catchy. If you like punky music, which I do, this is loads of fun. Good un!

Hi Micky,

Loving the bite to the vocal - good bit of snarl in there.
Was getting a bit of Jilted John in the guitar part.
Agree that the lead might be brought forward more.

Simple, energetic, ballsy.
It rocks well.

Yo Micky.

It's a roots Punk anthem for sure.

I dig everything about it,the energy and the raw vitality, but from 1.40 to 2.28 there is a dead spot, perhaps due to the mix,or maybe it needs something else to make it perfect.

Nothing like a good dose of socially conscious punk.
A cool riff. I thought the solo was sublime.
Inspiring. I'd like to do a punk song, I know I'd have to invest some time into it. To get into the mindset.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Yo Micky!

Always an anticipation when opening up one of your tracks; there's a real chance it'll leave you whacky! Couldn't help murmiring "guadaladaloop" for months after hearing that banger! :)

But just as wacky as that song is, your punk attitude and hard execution leads itself perfect to something more opinionated like these lyrics.

My volume goes to 100, so I put it to 110 instead! Music is surely rocking out and those smashing drums are fantastic. Some other entertaining sounds in there I couldn't put my finger on but fuse into something great.

Best part for me though still is the lyric/vocal. Really cool variation in rhythm and dynamic range - feels like it would be easy to just shout monotone with something like this but the melody shines through strong.

All the best,
Scott.

Yep, lovely slab of punk here.
You got some backwards drums going on too? Some of the snare strokes sounded like they had reversed reverb or something... anyway it sounded cool.
Liked the relentlessness of the guitars too... that was very punk. And it’s an ace title.
It's all too beautiful.

I agree - ive cut 12 seconds from the solo.

Yes , Pomey had similar advice. Ive updated the song accordingly.

I dig everything about it,the energy and the raw vitality, but from 1.40 to 2.28 there is a dead spot, perhaps due to the mix,or maybe it needs something else to make it perfect.

Yes - i hear you mate. Ive re recorded the solo and given it a volume boost!

Hey Pompey. Great advice. Ive remixed it exactly as you said.

All - ive taken all the advice on board and rerecorded/remixed the song.

I just love the pulsating rhythm guitars - Killing Joke stylie. Love the song concept too, we'll never get this planet back to where it used to be. Chorus is great - "Narcisists" - right!
Initially I wasn't 100% sold on the organ solo - a little too nice sounding?, until the end where it got wilder and darker.
Great ending though.
Simple enough track but cleverly written and sounding really good.

I love the song, but especially the guitars on this. It´s a great sound and the rhythm pulsates throughout the song. Everything else comes together on top of it brilliantly, including the vox, and I guess it´s the real message of our day isn´t it? The keyboard sounded a bit strange when it first came in, before the solo - bit it still works really (although maybe a bit bass heavy at that point). Reminded me of Ray Manzarek on a downer  ;D

Fab stuff, I´d go so far as to say your best yet!

Hi,

Not my thing musically at all but I like the way you have captured that late 70's (I was there!) punk sound and attitude. Vocal sounds a little crowded out but you sing it very well. It's a fabulous wall of electric guitar that you've created and the whole thing holds together really well. I shouldn't like it but I do.
