Hi all.

Sad news about Scott Walker. Must confess Im not consiously aware of much of his great body of work. but from reading all the obituaries it's clear he had a long and impressive and diverse legacy.

Anyone here been influenced by him? Any recommendations as to what to listen to?

Coop Funeralcare are always sober and reliable...and reasonably priced.

Those woodland burials are good for hippy-types.

In future, I must remember to read the full post, not just the title...

Yes @mickyplankton I am with you on that obituary thing. maybe his broader work was not as well known in the U.K.

But 'Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore' is surely one of the best ever pop songs. The hooks in that are so good I almost want to cry when I hear them.

I will watch this thread with interest, Co-op funerals aside!  ;)
My latest novel: pls check it out!

‘Gavin & The Bodysnatchers’, a quirky comedy crime thriller. Easily found on Amazon.

I don't know about his back catalogue either.
Hoping for recommendations.

@mickyplankton

I remember walker being recommended to me years ago.
I listened to tilt and drift - the albums.

He is intriguing , his voice takes some getting used to.
Not exactly easy listening.
I've been listening to him the last hour or so.
I think he's a cool, respectable dude but I really cannot get on board.

It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

My favourite: “The old man’s back again (dedicated to the Neo-Stalinist regime)” (real title!) from the Album Scott 4 (Also contains the tasty “Seventh Seal”)

The albums Scott 3 and Scott 4 and complete masterpieces IMHO, 3 especially if you like orchestrated pop.

Interesting and challenging things all the way through his career too. Sleepwalkers Woman and Farmer in the City and amazing things.

Got rest Mr Engel you prince  :'(

@tboswell and @adamfarr thanks for the recommendations. I'm enjoying album 4 and The Old Man's back again is a great shout. Love it. Great songwriting.
