wotcha folks

this is from paul vasey and myself and is the opening track on our 'big slide' album.
paul aka 'wicked deeds' had this rather marvellous instrumental rain down upon him one morning.
meanwhile, far away, id been messing around with one of those speech generators making it say swear words etc..
anyway a kind of narrative developed.. and we put it on top.
hope the result works for you

pauls intro somehow conjures up an image of a dancer clicking her heels..
altho in this case its an answering service..

Wotcha - works for me, entirely great idea, and would sit nicely as song 1 on a CD, or last song side 1 on vinyl.

Nothing to add except maybe playing a bit with the textures of the speech to add some variation.

Nice.

I like this, it's something different. It speech and music work together and there is huge scope for developing this kind of thing further. I love the bit about pressing escape and rewinding. Nice harmonised guitars as well. Drum beat is nicely full on, it really grew on me.

Thanks

Yo nooms and Paul.

I love the AI,automated response vibe to this. A great song idea...I'll perhaps steal this notion at some time.  ;D

The instrumental is a joy in itself,it manages to capture that frustration of being on hold, the repeating sections are well apt for the 'on hold' merry-go-round. The lyrics carry that touch of humour and observation which serves to convince and entertain.

I was kinda disappointed there were no swear words!  :(  :D

Clever stuff guys. Love the melodic contrast with the monologue. Press any number between 1 & 9 , brilliant. Don't we all want to press escape eh !

Read the lyrics first, very sharp and put a smile on my face.
And the music works well with the piano refrain and coldplayesque guitar.
Good work

Clever and subtle - I really like the "in the case of emergency, press harder" line and "purchase as much as you need".

The way she starts to go a little rogue and glitchy/pitchy is great - just little hints that she's going off script and getting a mind of her own...

At the beginning I thought the guitar clashed a little with the voice - perhaps a little volume automation could make her pop out a little more.

Nice!

Enjoyed this a lot...its very cleverly done and the music is a super backdrop to the fun lyric with its underlying twist of madness. The highly professional flourishes are what sets it apart from other similar pieces of work.

This is brilliant. Very clever idea, expertly crafted and it's catchy but also terrifying. The kind of song that heralds the end of the World. Bonus points for it having Fall like qualities. Great Collab.

It is a very catchy instrumental for a start, and lots of creative ideas in there which mean it would stand up on its own without the AI.

The AI is especially cool when juxtaposed with that descending guitar kind of 'chorus' refrain, which sounds kind of a trip into insanity. And the script is intelligent and very topical of our times.

I think a bit of singing somewhere might have been a good addition, however,  maybe a final refrain, or outro chorus kind of thing.

That said I think you could probably sell the excellent instrumental on its own to a track bank. Enjoyed mucho, cheers!

Hi Guys,

Witty, original and oh so true. Great playing and the two parts sit well together. The South Devon jury is going to dock you points for it not having any melody but I'm old fashioned like that.

A clever collab.

sorry im late back..
just want to say big thanks for the comments
glad it hit the spot !
it was really fun to do..
as always from wicked paul its a fabulous backing track that stands on its own.  he writes really fast and i must try his patience as i faff around endlessly..
i was concerned that i hadnt developed the story/situation enough..
theres another version with an angry caller that we're saving for the box set..

its a bleak joke of modern life i guess.. hate the way its going
thankfully songwriting is an escape route ..
must have dug to australia by now..
sorry about the melody monty

cheers all
