I had a lovely New years present from the legend that is Binladeda when 28 stems appeared in my Dropbox folder on 1st January. The challenge, to turn the stems into a Rock monster.

Well, a couple of weeks later after quite a few more additions, chopping, mixing and general fiddling about we've got a result.

It's a guitar heavy track and we wanted to see if we could get a live feel to it, hence the crowd noise and announcements.

The introduction announcement was really difficult to capture given that I can't really shout in the house. In the end I tried to record it on my phone on my dog walk on the beach but got quite a few weird looks !!!

In the end I had to drive somewhere remote and shouted into my phone in the car.

Anyway, it's one that needs a tad of volume.

Hope you enjoy. A real blast to work on this one.

Last Man Standing

Take what you want from me
I'll be what you want me to be
I'll sit in the corner screaming
Given up on all that dreaming
All I want is love and affection
But that ain't coming from your direction
Take what you want from me
And see what you want to see

Waste, all your precious time
Disappearing with another line
I'll be the last man standing
Hope I get some understanding
On the edge of oblivion
I don't believe in what you've done

 Well I bldy LOVE this ;D ;D ;D

You've done a great job PJ. It's a very satisfying feeling for me, to hear
something like this emerge from one of my backing tracks.  You've put a
big smile on an old mans face, and a spring in my musical step ;D ;D

I love the intro...my favourite part.  Think you've done a good job on
getting that 'live' feel....but it needs to be cranked up to get the full glory ;D ;D

Can't stop listening to this one atm....it's a real 'winner' with my grandson
Top marks old chap.....looking forward to the next one ;D

Nowt as queer as folk...........my gran

Oh Jesus Christ this is just phenomenal! Kudos to all involved. I love the dedication of going out to shout to get the take you needed :)

Yo pomps and bin.

Shades of awesomeness!

That intro is RAWKin'. Bin's guitar work is suitably manic and anarchic, reminds me of Hendrix styled mayhem at it's very best.

John, your vocals are as good as ever I've heard them and fit the song perfectly.

The pair of you have excelled yourselves with this one. I'd change nothing.

Super stuff - I love the way the lyrics come and go and share the limelight with the guitars. The atmosphere feels realistic too and a great choice for this track.
There's something about heavy guitars which just gets you moving, amirite? Good pumping rhythm section too.
Both you two sounding really at home and having fun here!

Hi Guys,

Just breath takingly brilliant, found myself in music heaven.

@Binladeda loved the raw husky vocals - suited this song down to the bone

@pompeyjazz that umph! In the drums is so powerful and that swirl of psychedelic guitar comes at you in every direction! That's some skill you've got.

Nice work Chaps. V solid Collab. PJ you can hear a bit of the influence of one of your previous collaborators MFJones in here. The live intro is great and the sound expansive overall. There is a swagger like Primal Scream going on. I would prefer the vocals to be a bit higher in the mix with a touch more reverb. But aside from that it's a great sound.

Yeah, dig this, I was relishing this hookup, sounds a bit Black Grapey to me, I can just image Sean Ryder doing his thing on this.

Very nice, like the Gtr hooks. Great Vox John, great when you push it.

@pompeyjazz - know what you mean about the funny looks, It's even more difficult to inspire collaborators to let loose like that, a trampoline helps....and it's just those nuggets of eccentricity that often end up in the final cut.

Rock normally isn't my thing but after reading all the rave reviews I felt compelled to take a listen and...
I gotta say I love this track!

It's got so much energy and drive to it. The voice over introduction really hits you in the face and then the track just ignites with awesome guitar riffs. The most remarkable thing is how it all 'clicks' from vocals to guitar to drums. For me the vocals helped give the track an early U2 feel - I dunno if either of you guys dig U2 but I hope that comment is taken in the well-intentioned way it was meant!

Heey,

Oh yeah, Pompz and Bin collab; that's surely a promise for a fantastic listen.

:') Gotta' do what ya gotta' do. Smashed it btw, worth it.

Haha if it isn't rockstar John on the stage in front of thousands, screaming his guts out over Bin's crazy guitar, both rocking that hair back & forth without a care in the world. I'm at the front waiting to catch yas on the stage-dive!

Great execution guys, somehow managed to make a track that sounds completely live, but at studio quality. Massive smile on my face, so much creativity and finesse. Rock monster indeed.

Looking forward to hearing more!

Scott.
