Hi all,
So last year with had two great challenges, drumming with the Clash and the 1 minute challenge.

So why not set ourselves one for the spring and encourage people to collaborate.

Subject? to start the debate how about Exotic?

Hi Neil!

I think it'a a great idea! Two or three theme based competition a year is a great way to make collabs.
I'd really like a collab to compensate for my slow food-lyrics writing. And of course DRUMS.
What do you mean by 'exotic'? I'm all up for something outside of the 'guy with a guitar' box.

All the best,
Martin

Martin,

"Definition of exotic. (Entry 1 of 2) 1 : introduced from another country : not native to the place where found exotic plants. 2 archaic : foreign, alien. 3 : strikingly, excitingly, or mysteriously different or unusual exotic flavor"

but seriously its broad enough for people to interpret it as they see fit..

@ Neil C

I like how the definitions refers back to the original word.

@Neil C,

This could well Be on my radar. I enjoy writing mostly when Someone sets a challenge. Exotic/erotic can easily be weaved into the same song!

Cool!

@Paulski : At the end of the song you could always say, "Oh, you said exotic (or erotic, whichever turns your crank).  ;D

How about a fusion of 2 top level genres

Just pick any 2 they have to be recognisable. Like classical and hip hop, or country and britpop .....

I've decided not to go for FAWM this year, so hopefully I'll have time helping to arrange this contest. My suggestion is that we aim at doing it in March. That's a real sucker of a month in Sweden, not winter, not spring, all the dog dropping melt out of the ice, well the list is long...

Nilotic is a word that doesn't go in controversy with the theme, but @pompeyjazz kind of nailed it with 'Tutankhamun's Tomb'.
