I have a gig in 5 days.... I really wanted a good opener song for my half hour set. Went in to the studio last night with a bit of a tune, no lyrics and no chorus and this is what came out. Bit more upbeat and poppy musically than previous but the lyrics are as dark as ever. Just me and my bass n voice. Feedback welcomed.

Whato @Andyb

Couldn't be better as an opener, really good stuff Andy. Good luck with the set, remember to involve the audience right from the start...

Guitars sound good too.

Hope this helps

I like the guitars
It's a huge band sound, I've no idea how to do that without a huge band
And that means commitment.
Sounds like a lot of work.
Great opener.
All the best.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

And there you have it.

Thanks for the comments. If anybody is interested it is all generated from my bass going to 3 separate amps (through a series of pedals - octavers etc) 2 guitar amps and 1 bass amp. All the "rhythm" tracks are played simultaneously and can be turned off an on separately. I then overdub some lead lines which, for playing live playing purposes, are pre-recorded in to a loop pedal and punched in on the fly - simples  :) That said this weekend will be the debut gig so I'll let you know if it is an unmitigated disaster or not ! Me and a drummer on stage hopefully delivering a big, full band sound !

Don’t think I’ve lkstened to any of your songs I didn’t like @Andyb and this ones no different. Great opener! And I am, as usual intrigued by the sound you get with that bass of yours!

Love it!

Hi @Andyb, wow that is a very powerful motoring sound, really full - but that technique you do with the base is awesome.

I really liked this, all the various dynamics throughout, and the placement of the excellent vocals.

Good luck with your gig, and yes you have got an attention grabbing opener there for sure. Very brave you going out there with just a drummer. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks a lot guys. Some people have remarked on the song being a bit too long. I might actually chop out the mid 8 section on this, possibly pop in the outro bit which I really like as a shortened change in the middle ? Also being overly critical I wasn't massively sure about the chorus I feel it doesnt lift the song to the next level as a chorus should do in my opinion... Despite putting this in the feedback on finished songs bracket I probably haven't finished tinkering with it  :)

Great drive and energy Andy. Would love to see this played live. Very inventive. I got a big whoosh of Biffy too. The cover photo was a bit disconcerting  ;D

Good luck with the gig

Wow!!! Really extreme strength. The guitars sound great.
I did not know that to live we had to die so many times
