    • Sixth Beatle - a music themed novel by Michael A (not much about The Beatles!)

Hi all, well this is just a bit of a fun song for me - maybe with a slightly darker edge, but not very dark, and just a bit of entertainment really. I was having a bit of a holiday last week, having a harmless little drink as you do, then foolishly said the wrong thing to a certain person with me (the wife!  :D ) and next day, waking on the sofa, I decided I needed something else to blame for my foot-in-the-mouth moment. Surely it wasn't all my fault! So this song lyric and tune quickly followed! Hope you enjoy!

Lyrics:

Sweet Tequila

Two cats in a bar drinking shots
Getting wasted, oh yeah
Two cats swear tequila's the best thing
They've ever tasted, oh yeah
It's their first date but they are married
By the end of the day
Wake up at noon in shock
Just one thing to say, oh yeah

It's all your fault
Sweet tequila
It's all your fault
Sweet tequila

Fat cat in a bar drinking shots
On business, oh yeah
Fat cat wants tequila to come and be
His secret mistress, oh yeah
Invincible, bets his house
On a stock market gain
Till left with jack, no shirt on his back
Just one thing to blame

RPT CHORUS

So raise your hands
If you can understand
We are the unfortunates
The strayed cats
And the damned

Sweet tequila
Stealer dealer

RPT CHORUS

It's all your fault
Stealer dealer
It's all your fault
Sweet tequila

Hard story and one I'm all too familar with.
I hope the situation recovered. Very human.
That demon drink.

The sounds like a necessary bit of bleeding.
It evokes painful memories though, Somehow it's too articulate for me to enjoy.
A job well done! All the best!!
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

And there you have it.

This all works very well - not quite what i was expecting for some reason......but it turned out to be reassuringly familiar without sounding like anything i know of. Cool delivery and intriguing story line.

Ah ! The demon drink ! Great set of lyrics. This has a great 80's feel to it. There are some great synth interchanges and I love the trem guitar. Thought that this was great

Michael A,
Great title and like the lyrics. Trust the foot is out of the big mouth!!
Backing simple and all the better for it.
catchy chorus.
liking the tremeloed guitar and synth
Just think maybe the vocals could be a little more mixed into the track, they're more than brash for my taste.

Thanks for these mostly encouraging comments @Rightly, @Morefrog Jones , @pompeyjazz and @Neil C. I wasn't at all sure if this song wasn't a bit 'too much', so it's good to see people are not violently objecting.

I have taken the vocals a little further back into the mix now + smoothed them out a bit with EQ. But they are still a bit out there and chaotic, but that's what I feel suits the song!

Cheers all for taking the time- and happy music making!

Hi,

This is a quite good indie song. The chorus is catchy, also the harmonies work very well.
Maybe I expected a little more variation between verse and chorus.

Anyway, well done.

Hi @MonnoDB , thanks for giving this a listen Karen, plus for these words of encouragement!

I kinda like being in the doghouse now and again, as I don't then need to speak to anyone and can spend some time in solitary contemplation. Perfect!

Thanks for the thumbs up, and yes I am not in the doghouse anymore, so probably no new songs from me for a while!  ;)

This is a very good song. Heard a few times now and it grows each time. The chorus vocal melodies are rich and spicy and the lyrics tell a timeless story about the perils of drink without being too dark or preachy. Nice one Michael

It never occurred to me to associate the word sweet with tequila but in this case it is like that, very sweet despite the claim and drink problems.

Great lyrics, I liked the arrangement - perfectly judged for the song theme. Melodically a little on the thin side but a real success overall.

Thanks @mickyplankton , @moraamarolaloba and @montydog for the feedback. I'm starting to realise this isn't my greatest ever hit, but some Tequila lovers/haters will remain with me on this! So cheers everyone!  ;)

Love the lyrics!

I would like to hear the production fattened up a bit if that makes sense? A little bit bigger. Maybe let the vocal get lost in the instrumental during the chorus and let a huge drum come in?

Just my thoughts. But I really enjoyed this one!
