Hi guys. This is a song I wrote called ''The Boy from Memphis''. It's still in demo status but I really wanted to share it with Elvis' fans (I guess we've got a few around here).

A humble homage to one of the greatest singers of all time. Hope you enjoy:

Lyrics - The Boy From Memphis

The way that he moves

Like he doesn’t care

May get you off guard

There’s no time to spare

It’s hard to explain

What to feel or what to say

I’m not gonna meet you

Goodbye, amazing grace

Walking in a velvet room

The feeling comes along

Is it roalty besides you?

You’re standing alone

Chorus:
Shake it, shake it, baby

(The boy from Memphis comes to town)

Shake it, shake it, baby

(He’s going to leave you in disguise)

To dress like a king

The legend lives on

Soulpower in your voice

We must carry on

Watching a silverscreen

A diferent kind of man

Is it magic or real life?

You can not decide

Chorus:
Shake it, shake it, baby

(The boy from Memphis comes to town)

Shake it, shake it, baby

(He’s going to leave you in disguise)

Ending:

Ooh Don’t let me go...

Hi, Alcapone!

I like this song very much, it sounds interesting and catchy.

I think the special feature of it is the brassy section, I like it very much.
It definitely creates the right vibe for this track.
Is it recorded alive?

And drums too.

The song itself sounds as like of punk genre and that's a good combination of music and arrangement.

Good job, thank you for posting!)

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my song, Altair. And I'm glad you liked it.

You've made a very good observation about the punk attitude towards this song. A while ago a producer told me exactly that. I've got a background in punk music for that matter so I tend to sing that way.

For the final cut of the song I'm planning on use real horn instruments to give a more real feel to the song and make it ''bigger sounding''.

Whato The DuDu meister.

A great effort indeed, first, I kinda like the analogue retro feel of the overall production, makes it sound like it's on a radio in the '70's which is a great touch.

I found some of the rhythm words a little forced and hurried, it might pay you to cut down on the number of words, and give em some air to breathe.

I thought the brass sounded OK, bring it down a tad in the mix, and you'll be fine.

As an arrangement, maybe lose the 2nd verse, like the vocal solo & piano.

has a lot going on then goes to nowt.

hope this helps (what did you record it on?)

Hey cpm! I'm glad you liked some of it. It means a lot.

Thank you for the detailed review. Some of your observations are really pertinent.

I recorded this song using a Zoom device called iQ6 and N-track software.
