Most people have gone for something fast but I've gone for a gentle vibe, reflecting on that time you get a new tune in your head and it just won't let you go.

Enjoy!

----------

SWEETEST LITTLE MELODY
(T J Boswell)

Oh the sweetest little melody
Came into my head
And I held it oh so tight

Oh the sweetest little melody
Is stuck inside me playing
Over and over tonight

If you just let go
Let the magic flow
Listen up. You’ll hear alright

Oh the sweetest little melody
Stuck inside you playing
Over and over tonight

℗ 2018 T J Boswell

Really nice one, Tom. You've done such a good job of making a whole, complete song in that short time. And pretty. And, to me, it doesn't sound a bit like it needs any more.

Yo Tom.

What is a song? Is it merely defined by duration?

An accomplished songwriter will tick boxes as a matter of course, then add something special, which sets them apart.

Your music isn't governed by time, yet you excel when restrictions apply.

Enough bullshit,it's a fine track regardless of timespan.

In my opinion this sets a new marker for the competition. The song is perfect for 1 minute and  feels natural. Looking back at my own entry, I had to compress it a bit to fit the time. Your song is much more natural. Great vocals too.

Good job, tj. It feels complete. The simple arrangement suited it perfectly. Nice melody and singing.

Excellent stuff, clever you executed Tom. And it certainly is a sweet melody. This worked absolutely perfectly for me and I guess that we can all relate to that magical moment when we find a melody

Simply delightful, subtle and all so sweet. Classic sound and delivery - had me pressing replay as a reflex! Cool!  :D

Tis a thing of beauty. Some lovely changes and playing. Lots of tension and release in a small package. Fantastic stuff.

Incredible what can be crammed into a minute. It feels that it is SUPPOSED to only last a minute, rather than a three or four minute number cut off at the knees. You even had time to get a brief silent pause in there!

Beautiful singing, lovely piano and a great tune.

Great job tb..

As @Skub said- What is a song? this has it all, the only thing that I wasn't sure about was that I could hear a high pitched pad or something in the background, was that supposed to be there, or was I just hearing things? I thought it sounded just great with the piano, did you play it?

Really nice

Regards

Rich

Thanks all for your very kind comments.

Seems far too much thought given to so slight a song.  :)

Yeah you hear right, there is a pad on there. Got a new synth and thought it added it a little something. Kept it low in the mix tho. Played the piano myself but quantisation always helps!

What a great song Tom - perfectly played, arranged and written (and sung)  :D
Didn't know you played the piano so well and I love the progressions!
Noticed a few spots where the sustain pedal could have been down - midi's a bitch for messing with that IMO.

Defo in the running for the coveted prize  ;D ;D

Classy cameo performance Tom. Manages to encapsulate everything a song needs in just this short time. Nicely done indeed. (Listening on phones and getting a bit of whistly resonating stuff....more noticeable near the beginning....only mention it cos I heard it....doesn't make me like the song any less!!)
Take it easy.

You can check my stuff out here. Mini-album getting bigger slowly. Free download if you're poorer than me.
