I can't play guitar but I just thought I'd record something I'd written and if anyone wants to do something with it then they can - might give an idea of a melody and just gets me used to singing , recording and getting more confident without worrying about chords etc

Where are you going strangers ?

Verse 1
I see you through the train Windows
drinking coffee , eating , sleeping
is this the start of something new ?
or something you have to do

Chorus
Where are you going strangers ?
are you running away
or going into Unknown dangers
is this a fateful day ?

Verse 2
Is this the start of new life ?
where boy meets girl
Who becomes his wife
Where are you going strangers ?

Chorus
Where are you going strangers ?
are you running away ?
or going into Unknown dangers
is this a fateful day ?

Verse 3
Are you going away from pain ?
as the rain runs down the windows
is it running like your tears
is someone left behind ?

Chorus
Where are you going strangers ?
are you running away ?
or going into Unknown dangers
is this a fateful day ?

Bridge
Where are you going strangers ?
is the danger behind or ahead ?
I'll never know what's in your head

Out
Where are you going ?
Where are you going ?
Where are you going ?
Strangers

Hey Katie, I'm so tickled to see you stretching outside your comfort zone. Good for you! You've worked out a lot of the rhythm to this and the beginnings of a melody. Right now you have pretty much the same melody fragment all the way through--probably largely because you're just learning guitar and only had the one chord.

I know you like to keep churning out lots of new lyrics; the beginning of a new song often seems to be the most fun. I recommend choosing a song, maybe this one? and trying to develop the musical part of it some more. You could see if you could come up with a contrasting melody idea for the chorus, for instance.

Congratulations on taking this step! Keep it up.

Vicki

Hi Katie

I love this. for a bunch of reasons.

It's an instrument and a singer. Everyone successful and nont so successful artist incl. Dylan, Hendrix sounded like this once.
You sound happy.
Not worried about which channel strip, or Vocal compressor to use...
It's very rare to hear a song at this stage, most people are not ready to put it out.
You have a very nice sound to your voice.
There is meaning to the words.
Breaks loads of 'rules'

To me it encapsulates everything about the joy of the journey in trying to make music. Thank you katie.

It might sound patronising, but it wasn't meant to be.

Thanks CPM. I know you weren't patronising. Me X
It's quite hard to sing and record when you've not done it before , I'm going.to see if I can add a few chords this afternoon - nothing fancy and try and find a level for my voice that I'm comfortable with I recorded it just on a basic voice recorder app

I know it's not very good but you have to start someone xx

Hi Katie.
Totes agree with @CaliaMoko on this, get a track that you would like to turn in to a finished song and then stay with it.

Ok, I get that you are on the guitar learning path, but things are coming together nice and you are making progress.

Learn at least 3 chords and learn to switch between them in time, slowly at first then build up speed. Stick with the 4 beats each bar setup.
Try to phrase your lyrics and lines around the rhythm of the guitar and chord changes.

Don't worry about scales and keys etc, for a minute, thats for later.

3 chords - C - Am - G nice n easy.

Enjoy, thats important.

Cheers
Andy

@Cawproductions - thanks Andy I've really got the bug to learn -I love learning about art as well and also the people behind the music - I've just finished a book on Ian Curtis by his wife Deborah and have just started one that I've had a while on John Lennon
