Does length really matter?? 
Can you write to a "brief" ?? 
I'm thinking - any genre - less than 2:30 mins - the shorter the better 
Just think - judging it will be a snap!
I'd need a co-host volunteer if we get enough interest...

Sounds like fun. In spite of my serious lack of free time. Or maybe because of it?? I have one that's about 25 seconds long right now, although, to be fair, it isn't really done. <<insert long pause>>

Okay, didn't realize I never sent this. And that song mentioned above is now about 1:15 long. I have to write one more line (included in the 1:15), but if we do this, that's going to be my entry! Probably.

Got my laptop fixed this week so could be good timing for myself.

Couldn't volunteer to co-host with lack of reliability atm but would definitely force myself to participate.

Thinking like 1.30 would make it more exciting bit my creativity struggles past that point anyway 😂

Looks like we have enough interest to prepare for launch 
Thanks for volunteering to co-host pomps/John.
Seems like a duration of 1 minute or less will be the challenge - and the judging gods will frown on (but still allow) the seconds to tick slightly beyond that. A few other proposed "rules" below - let me know of any objections!

- must have minimum 100 posts on the forum to enter
- any genre/style/theme/mood/vibe/speed
- may enter as solo, or additionally, as part of maximum one collab.
- no voting for your own song!
- entrants must vote at the end of the contest or face disqualification of their entry
- how about Sept. 30th as the deadline for submissions?

Any other rules we need to consider - maybe entrants must have a pulse?

We did have one of these a few years ago... Maybe the thread is still here if you dig around.
I believe back then it was a 1:30 limit... Or maybe 2 mins. So maybe really short as @pompeyjazz suggested is a fun idea

Of late I've been trying to write songs sub 3 minutes and quite often hitting the 2 and a half mark,so I'm well up for turning that screw tighter.
