I'm not doing it for you
I'm doing this for me
So I can be the person
I was always meant to be

You have this bad habit
Of dancing on my broken dreams
You like to watch me fall apart
at the seams

I'm leaving you to be alone
With the moldy seeds that you have sown
And I'm doing it with a megaphone of glee
I'm doing this for me

If the chance to do it over
Ever came my way again
I'd surely choose the same path
Cause surviving was all I had

You had the means to make things right
And out of spite you chose what's wrong
With a dark heart full of ignorance
beating lies on your one-note gong

I"m leaving you to be alone
This home's a mirage that I've outgrown
I'm cutting that cord and setting myself free
I'm doing this for me
I'm doing this for me
I'm doing this for me

Input for changes welcome. Hit me with it, the good, the bad, the ugly. I'm a big girl. ;)

A little bit of Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street" comes to mind.  Sweet, humorous bitterness.  Cool.

good stuff!

I hope it's not autobiographical.
reminds me a little of "up to me" by Dylan.

it seems very grounded and real. It's got substance.

It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

I love the intricate structure, the...what I would call bonus and/or surprise rhymes tucked in here and there. The story comes through loud and clear. The uneven structures throughout provide strong support for the unstable theme...although, in spite of the topic, I think it would be possible to argue that the theme could be seen as stable, because the protagonist is taking control of her life.

I have one small nit. If the chance to do it over / Ever came my way again The "do it over", "again" pair is saying this is the second time of doing it over. It was "done" once. It was then "done over". And now it is being "done over" again. But everyone will know what you mean, so it isn't a biggie.

That's all I have.

Nice lyrics and the meaning is clear. I'd be interested to know what kind of genre this would be sung to. I had a kind of power ballad thing going on in my head whilst reading it!

Why don't you whip it into a structure...?
