Hey all,

New song called Let You (working title for now). Would love any feedback you have. Thanks!

Lyrics:
It's after midnight once again
and here you are inside my head
I can't stop thinking 'bout that night
I can't stop thinking 'bout it

I felt so comfortable with you
I let my dumb laugh out with you
I showed you sides of me
that people rarely get to see

But I don't wanna get too close
Cuz I'm afraid that we might fall apart
I don't wanna get too close cuz i'm afraid
Cuz once we take it there
there ain't no going back to what we had
And I don't wanna get too close
But I just can't help it

Pre-Chorus:
But here we are again
Sitting side by side again
But far enough so we pretend
Nothing's going on in our heads
Am I being obvious?
God, you're being obvious.
And this is all your fault
You made me fall
So I'm gonna let you make the move

Chorus:
You made me fall
So I'm gonna let you make the move

You made me fall
So I'm gonna let you make the move

It's after midnight I'm alone
Thinking why'd I made that joke?
It seemed so funny at the time
I probably turned you off for life

Was I too comfortable and free?
I swear you're comfortable with me
You showed me sides I think you keep
Hidden in boxes buried deep

But I don't wanna get too deep with you
Cuz I'm afraid I'll open up
And say what I've been feeling all this time

And once we take it there
There ain't no going back to what we were
And I blame you for being you cuz
You made me fall

Chorus:
You made me fall
So I'm gonna let you make the move

You made me fall
So I'm gonna let you make the move

Bridge:
You've got my whole heart open
You've got my whole heart open
You made me fall for you
But I won't be begging you
you made me fall (you made me fall)
So I'm gonna let you make the move

You've got my whole heart open
You've got my whole heart open
(So I'm gonna let you make the move)
You made me fall for you
But I won't be begging you
you made me fall (you made me fall)
So I'm gonna let you make the move

But here we are again
Sitting side by side again
But far enough so we pretend
Nothing's going on in our heads
(I'm gonna let you make the move)
Am I being obvious?
God, you're being obvious.
And this is all your fault
You made me fall
So I'm gonna let you make the move

Hey Micky,

This definitely grew on me. I liked the more dancy/ high energy parts, especially the ending. I think that it's supposed to be unexpected, and it was. Liked where it ended up a lot. I'm not totally sold on the piano, but that might just be my personal taste. I almost stopped listening, but I didn't. Curious to hear what the wise people here think of it; if they think it works or not. I'm not sure. I liked it by the end, and it's memorable. It might be a grower.

I keep going back to the change at 45 seconds as the point where I want something else to happen. I hope that helps, but no worries if it doesn't!

Hi I liked it but I would have like to hear it with a slightly lower tempo, I just feel the lyrics might sound better slower and not so pumpy , dancy
-maybe even as a ballad

Thanks, Lynn! I see what you mean and I do think the song would benefit from a shorter time to get to the more upbeat part. Will continue to work on it.

Thanks!

I did think about just making it a ballad. Still working on this one so that could be an option.

Thanks!

I like it a lot. The one thing that bothered me was the ssshhhh sound between "let" and "you" whenever those two words were together. There's a lot going on, and I think the sounds all need to be sharp and clean for that to work, so I found the "ssshhhh" distracting.

But I like the song a lot. Nice and peppy and fun. I noticed the mention of slowing it down, maybe even making it a ballad. I think that could also work, but it would be, like, a different song for me. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Lots of potential in here. Love the chorus really works well, great hook.
I think the title is "Make the Move" from first listen. It's the hook phase at the end of the chorus and the thing that gets repeated most.

Thing that sticks out is the pre-chorus. The arrangement is a bit obvious. All the elements do exactly what is expected, they all move up in step.
This lessens the impact hugely. I would play with the arrangement, change the baseline and try to get some lines that go up while others go down.
Or lines that stay the same while others go up. All that creates the tension you want to be there, ready to be released in the chorus.

Like I said, love the chorus, good song, just needs a little more work I reckon.
