Hi,
Here's the latest output from our joint venture.
Its simple, I send him a demo tune, and some time later fully formed song turns up :-)
I tighten up the backing and its done!

Please do have a listen and let us have your thoughts and suggestions.

 :)

underfelt

i never know what i should do, i get myself confused
lord knows i’m not a bad man, lord knows and i wish had tell you
i know i was stumbling like i was drunk, thinking things i shouldnt have thunk
lord knows i’m not a downright skunk and i wish he’d tell you

i was sensing something else, hidden in the underfelt,
hit me hard here below the belt, i’m never sure what i should do
lord knows my heart is heavy with it

i was thinking things would melt, just the way the cards were dealt
but something that you said you smelt, my shaky leg and lame excuses
damned if i do, damned if i dont, i got the will but i know i wont
and it'll be me in the porch, in the overcoat, smoking in the rain

i make mistakes thats my thing, howd you think they get the bells to ring
i made them once, tolled you so
lord knows i’m not a bad man, lord knows and i wish hed tell you
i wish he’d tell you

not my fault i fear, its a job for an engineer
this thing has overtones
everything is level plain as ever it will be
still a mystery
i’m better with machinery
i’m better with machinery

Yo nooms and Neil.

I caught this one a while back and I loved it then,as I do now.

I love Neil's 'Snowy White - Bird of Paradise' vibe guitar track a fine backdrop to nooms vocals.

Lyrics are beyond reproach, lots of cute little things in there. 'Tolled you so'. Too clever nooms.  :)

Suggestions? Too far above my pay grade for this tune.
It a sultry dark journey down a hurtin' man's mind IMHO.
Love the vocals, lyrics, guitar, drums etc etc.

top notch work!

Really gorgeous song. I'm listening just after waking up, and what a lovely way to start or end a day. The vocals are killer, and the guitar totally complements them. Really love the better with machinery repeating ending. Really could listen to that one all day.

Hi guys, excellent collaboration. Vocal reminded me of early solo Peter Gabriel (Hey mac, see you down the dolce vita :))), which is an excellent thing in my book. Lazy languid backing working with the vocal feel and of course some lovely guitar licks.
Great production too.
Excellent!
Cheers

Great, lay back vibe to this and the vocals works 110% with the backing. Think the groove would improve even more if the bass and kick patterns were more harmonized i.e. in the first half of the first verse both kick and bass hist 1 but in the other half the bass get slightly busier but the kick is still only doing 1, I think having the kick follow would make this even cooler. Not sure but I suspect a more straight hi hat pattern would actually make it groovier than the current that has more of a swing feel to it? A really nice build up and some nice guitars layers adds value to this fine song, well done both of you!

Such a great groove. That laid back blues rock mixed with lyrics that carry the groove and not try to distract from it blends very well.
Let music bring us all together.

Right up my street this one - the story is fascinating and probably something lots can relate to. On the horns of a dilemma...
Very artfully told with lots of intricacy and playfulness to the rhymes and images.
And it sounds amazing too. Cooler than.

Whato guys

Pure musical magic.

I love this, hit's all my music funny bones, great arrangement, superb LVox and Lyrics/phrasing are pure genius, just great how the LVox is dry and right up there, so difficult to get that right...

To my ear I agree with one of the others that the walking bass is to busy in parts for the song's vibe, maybe a couple more vox tracks of 'I'm better with machinery' but quite low in the mix, to give it some thickness, a different texture if you will, and the guitar solo might benefit from having a bit more 'feel', it just sounds a bit 'practised', sorry but that's just how I hear it...

You can toss commercial radio in t'garbage, there's global quality right here, right now.

A truly wonderful song. Has to be a contender for SOTM

Hope this helps.

@nooms ...Just been listening to it again, and I have a couple of ideas.

A big flabby bass drum like this one, with a Live studio feel.

Keep the bass line, I think the walking part sits OK on reflection, but a Stand Up bass would work well.

A truly great song, brought me comfort and joy on my walk to work along the river.

Guys,

Not much to say that hasnt been said,

This track has a great vibe, almost a little jazz.

Like the way it rolls along, vocal is smooth and playing is rhythmic and layed back also in the groove perfectly.

Great work guys.
Oh, and productions is slick,

again, great work, its a a win from me.
