Hi guys,

Some of you may remember this as the solo acoustic jangly thing I'd posted last month. It's a horse of a different color now, thanks to Keith and Dave, and everyone's input. I hope you'll let us know what you think.

Listen to and Hull Soul Collective                If He's Happy (two) by faraway my lovely #np on #SoundCloud
https://soundcloud.com/user-468459034/with-hsc-if-hes-happy-two

He has your back
He sings you songs
He gives you his soul
He makes you whole
He gives you his gifts
He tells you secrets
He's there when you need him
And you always need him

But if he needs
To go away
You let him go
You let him go
Because if he's happy
If he's happy
He won't want to go

Instrumental

He gives you bright colors
And he writes you words
He's often funny
But rarely absurd
You don't always get him
But he shows you his way
He makes you better
And work feels like play

But if you need
To go away
He'll let you go
He'll let you go
Because if you're happy
If you're happy
You won't want to go

Instrumental

Because if he needs
To go away
You let him go
You let him go
Because if he's happy
If he's happy
He won't want to go

I really like this song - it's kind of got a cocteau twins vibe mixed with a bit of bowie.

The vocals are mixed really well.

10 out of 10 for originality.

Hey,

Sweet and somber. I do get some cocteau twins-vibes from this aswell. Just put on some more reverb and larger synths and you're there :) There is a nice classic songwriting underneath it all. By that I mean the melody is very nice and pop-ish. Then we can talk about the psychedelic instrumentals you have on this track, which are NOT pop-ish, more space than pop yeah. I like that. Very interesting listen for sure!!

With love

Thanks Ben and Tommy. I love the Cocteau Twins comparison, but don't really hear it myself.  But that's cool you both do! Tommy, Dave just got that really spacy sounding Moog subsequent 37 last month, so he'll be psyched to hear you liked it.

Thanks again,
Lynn

hi red
enjoyed this .. put me coat on
kind of chilling
this is very moody and low lit
deep water bass end
like you might fall in
like the lyric and idea
background vocals especially
stand out and remind me strongly of judee sill in the tone of your voice..
long gone now but checkout the album version of ‘the kiss’
i may not believe this tomorrow...

Thank you so much, Nooms. I really appreciate that, and just watched a video of Jude Sills that gave me chills. I actually look a little like her, too. Weird.

I'll be heading to the used record store to see if I can find that lp. Thanks again for the review and recommendation.

This is sooo original. Engaging and atmospheric from start to finish. Poetic, brooding, psychadelic yet very real. I liked the twisting and turning of the lyrics. A cool and original take on a love song. cx

Well that was different.  ;D
It's a trippy piece with the half-spoken double vox and the crescendo a la "Day in the Life"
Didn't warm up to it until the second play I'll admit but then I started to see the talent shine through the mist.  :D
Very creative - well done!

Yo Guys.

I really enjoyed the other version of this song,so it's interesting to hear this take.

To my ears this is very early Velvet Underground with Nico. The added instrumentation gives an eerie, almost sinister aspect which was absent from the first version.

Interesting to listen to the two tracks back to back.

Thanks for listening to both versions, Skub. Appreciate the velvets w/ Nico comparison. Also cool you hear this one as a little sinister. I think it needed that. The solo version is a little too sweet.

Hi, I listened to this already and thought I'd commented :P.Enjoyed the spaced out feel and the dream like vocals. Interesting colours in the instrumentation. My only nit was the percussion put me off. It felt out of time in places, but that could just be me ::).
Nice one
Cheers
