"Two to one and one to two"
Passions flare in the evening so dark,
a fire a-lite with no apparent spark
the clock says two to one,
and it could be any time,
one to two, baby, me and you...

I want to hold you, feel you against my skin,
There may be no spark but I feel aflame within
the clock says two to one,
and it could be any time,
one to two, baby, me and you...

The urge to join together beckons
with unrelenting allure,
give me some hint you love me,
not just a little,
something more
Take a little time to question what you may need,
a little sprig of interest planted, a burgeoning seed,

Passions flare in the evening so dark,
a fire a-lite with no apparent spark
the clock says two to one,
and it could be any time,
one to two,
baby, me and you...

Retained memories of warmth,
in the thrall of a winter's storm,
it keeps the memory alive,
we will remember the coldest stone
Take a little time to question what you may need,
a little sprig of interest planted, a burgeoning seed,

And in seasons back long passed,
when it glowed from within,
while no shadow was cast
Something good would soon begin

I want to hold you, feel you against my skin,
There may be no spark but I feel aflame within
the clock says two to one,
and it could be any time,
one to two, baby, me and you...

Interesting.   This doesn't usually happen to me, but I simply can't tell a thing about this lyric without hearing it sung.  I can see how it can make a dramatic impact with music.  Usually, I can imagine myself to a sense of a song just from the lyric.  But I'd simply have to HEAR this instead  of seeing it.  Sorry to be of so little help.

This is so interesting. At first read, the title reminded me of a line I've heard in a country pop tune, "T-shirt", by Thomas Rhett, but the way you're using it is much more unique and meaningful. I can see this one as part of a musical production, the kind they do on Broadway, it has that type of sound and storytelling style about it.

There is a video on youtube of the first rendition of this song:

Wow, that is an interesting concept, I wonder if this other song I wrote would go with it:
&index=3

"Say What You Wish"

She’s a free spirit
a bad girl
she never found a place to roost
she’ll come this way and that
yeah she'll keep on soaring
always showing dignity
while managing to be alluring

She’s a free spirit
not a sad girl
she is quite happy in her ways
So say what you wish
But be careful what you wish for
This girl is hard to handle
You might not hold a candle to her

Chorus
Ooh, I love the way she is
I love the twinkle in her eye
Ooh, I love the way she looks
a subtle flair and a frivolous wink, so sly
(She is so sly, she's not so shy, she goes gliding by)
Ooh, I love the way she is, she brightens the most brilliant day
Yes I love her, she's so coquettish
Yes I love her, say what you wish
But be careful what you wish for
It might surprise you when it walks through that door

She’s a free spirit
not such a bad girl
when you compare her to the rest
She may not be your style
Or else you might adore her
She comes from north of Hades
Now she says she wants to be an explorer

she's everything I’ve ever dared to dream
I guess I'd say she must be heaven sent
A seductive enchantress in the extreme
a crooked rod?  No, just a tad bent!!

Chorus
Ooh, I love the way she is
I love the twinkle in her eye
Ooh, I love the way she looks
a subtle flair and a frivolous wink, so sly
(She is so sly, she's not so shy, she goes gliding by)
Ooh, I love the way she is, she brightens the most brilliant day
Yes I love her, she's so coquettish
Yes I love her, say what you wish
But be careful what you wish for
It might surprise you when it walks through that door

There is a video on youtube of the first rendition of this song:

I loved the lyric (as sung) and the vocal melody.  I felt the musical accompaniment was a little busy.  I'm assuming that's still a work in progress.

The things I couldn't work out reading it became clear as you sang it, and I think it's a first rate lyric.

Thanks for your appreciation! I wrote the lyrics, the singer is a friend from England, not me...

I don't fully understand the song. Particularly... the title phrase...two to one and one to two. I'm not English so that explains...
But does that mean that at two o'clock and one minute, the two lovers will be one?

Or should I delete that I ever asked that?  ;D
