I wrote this some time ago
and recorded it on the acoustic guitar.
I began to really like it, so I made a Cubase version of it.
Might be my best Cubase project to date (or the one I'm presently most pleased with)

I''m progressing, on some little ol' trip.

Feedback is Food
I hope someone enjoys it too.

___Nobody Wants To Work That Hard___

it'll take a while before it gets into my blood
I'll bide my time until it's written in stone
run with the devil like y'know that y'should
and I'll find a way out o' here on my own

describe one's colours to the willingly blind
reluctantly shines my one n' only star
too many lovers with whom to invest my time
when nobody ever wants to work that hard

nobody ever really wants to work
nobody ever really wants to work
nobody ever wants to work that hard
You want to shut down before making a start
nobody ever wants to work that hard
nobody ever wants to work that hard

after crying salty tears I blow my nose
I've been kicking up the leaves in Paisley Park
they arrested me with their dos and their don'ts
this time, "looking for relief long after dark"

nobody ever really wants to work
nobody ever really wants to work
nobody ever wants to work that hard
there's a carpet of leaves out in the yard
nobody ever wants to work that hard
nobody ever wants to work that hard
nobody ever wants to work that hard

Bordering on a jazz ballad.

As usual lyrics are very clever.

Nice little tune.

Hello mate,

You have written a very original sounding song here. Cool lyrics. I did feel that the timing could be tightened up a little, especially on the transitions from chorus to verse, but maybe that was your intention? Anyway, good job buddy.  :)

I'm glad you guys liked the song.
The song was a fairly easy write. Two years old already.
I got to try new things with the daw. Singing it was a bit more trouble, I never really know what to do with mixing my voice, maybe I like the way I sound.

Daw insights for me are usually hard won but I often have fun with them.

Nice original feel to this one, Rightly. I have absolutely no idea what the lyrics mean - but I like them! There are a few moments where the vocal feel / rhythm doesn't gel with the backing, and there are moments when it really does (the chorus, for example), so overall I couldn't quite sink into the groove. But it's very good nonetheless.

Yo Rightly.

I love originality.

I don't need to understand either the music or the lyrics, nor do I require them to be explained.

All I need is to listen and enjoy. Isn't that the purpose of music.  :)

Greatly enjoyed.  :)

As usual your lyrics are captivating like a fascinating crossword.  I like the melody too.  I ummed and aahed a couple of times over some of the production choices, wondering if some of the sound patches were a bit too synthetic, but by the end of it I'd grown to really like them, as they gave the track yet another slightly unconventional angle.  Top stuff Rightly.
It's all too beautiful.

I really like this a lot. I love the instrumentation you've chosen, the only thing id say is im not keen on the sound of the kick drum. A bit too "clicky" if you get me. The lyrics are really fun too.

Enjoyed it Rightly. Like your voice and vocal delivery a lot anyway so that's a big start.

Interesting and different arrangement which works well in its way. Made me think that if you lived in Weybridge instead of Berlin you might not come up with something like this but I don't really know Berlin at all so this is just idle wandering on my part.

My least favourite part or the part that doesn't work so well, for me at least, is the first bit of the chorus where I appreciate the idea of the way the repeats go but don't quite like the accent on the 'body' of the second 'nobody'....well I say don't like but what I mean is that was the place I went 'oh...I don't know'......for somebody else it might be their favourite bit so this means nothing really.

Enjoyed it.
Take it easy.

I can't respond to all the comments but I do appreciate each one.

This one I enjoyed reading the most.
...the mischief and the buster Keaton reference.
Generally it's difficult for me, or I think anyone, to get humor into a song without it sounding forced.
I think I pulled it off here.

Thanks.

Thanks @redrhodie
This -true to myself- comment is uplifting.
It's not something I strive for, it is essential and keeps me interested in how the song will be when finished.
If I don't have the truth in there, spectacular or dull, I lose interest before completion.

Thanks for commenting.  :)

Just caught a listen and it took me on quite a little trip. Bags of originality and inspired lyrics.

The “They arrested me with their do’s and their don’ts” line in particular put a big smile on my face.

A great listen - cheers!

Rightly my man,

What a brilliant piece, I really like this, I especially the LVox, really clever, the vibe reminds me of a later Lou Reed. Can't add anything all, I just love the way you do your thing, in a confident way.

Trouble is Rightly, when it comes to music, I do like to work that hard.... :)
