I'll change it to put capitals in so it represents major or minor

Right this is a complete beginner who knows nothing about music - I've used a free chord app and tried to match it up with my lyrics , I've got no idea how it sounds.

I've done it in C major I believe - I didn't spend to long on it in case I'm wasting my time
Here's what I've done for the first verse

I met him at the airport

V1
I met him  at the airport.   on my way    to Spain
       C                    DM7                 EM.           G

I    wanted   to  get    away  from the rain
C     Am          B.        G.              Am

he.was  going    to Mexico
    C.      DM            AM

I didn't think    I'd see him    again
         C               DM                  AM

If it's any good it's just a fluke
Nice one Katie, i'm going to have a strum of it when I get home :)
Oasis are pretty easy to learn on the whole so hope that goes well, they are one of my favourite bands too.

Hi Katie,
Below is a link to some music structure i just made for you to write too. All it is is a chorus and verse for 3:25 mins.
It's enough to get a songs lyric started and if it works out i can add a bridge to it for you later on no problem.
Johnny :)

These are some lyrics that I wrote recently I've added some chords but alot of it is guess work

The song that I was thinking about when I was thinking of a sound was town called malice by the jam I'm hoping that someone can do something with this I don't mind if it needs changing at all chord or lyrically

Thanks Katie

Hi Katie

I've not looked at it in depth, but there is a BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/soldonsong/guide/ that has a short, easy to read guide on songs, what the parts are, how to write a song. Might be worth a quick look to see it is helpful to you.

Keep at it - that's the way to get more confident!

cheers
Dave

Hi Katie

Just a quick tip for sharing your chords with other musicians. When you're using a regular major chord, you don't need to indicate it. Instead of FMAJ you can just write F

Here's a quick primer for other chord types you might use:
C (straight major chord)
Cm (straight minor chord)
C7 (straight dominant 7 chord (notes = C E G Bb))
C+7 (straight major 7 chord (notes = C E G B)) (if this confuses you, don't worry, you'll come to know the difference in time)
Cm7 (straight minor 7 chord)

That should cover it for now. Once you're comfortable with all of those you may or may not want to delve into other chord types such as diminished, augmented and various extended chords.

Good on you for picking up the guitar. It's the most fun you can have with a lump of wood in your hands (apparently) :o :p

Here's anew song I'm working on I've kept it simple with just 3 chords and trying to tune my guitar with an app - I've watched a you tube video with Marty Swartz

This is just about the First World War and going over the top in the trenches

Over the top

Verse1
time to go , over the top
Em.                 Am
I kiss your stained -photo graph
Em.                              Am
It'll always stay -next to my heart
Em.                         Em
even in death,  at the end
Em.                        Am

Chorus
Over the top
G
Into no man's land
G
the band plays the songs
G
that will make us strong
G

Verse 2
Over the wire we make our way
Em
I see Jimmy fall
Am
Who'll get the next call
Em

Chorus all G
Over the top
Into no man's land
the band plays the songs
that will make us strong

Verse 3
Fear -grabs me
Em
like a man possessed
Am
I'll do anything
Em
to get out this mess
Am

Chorus all G
Over the top
Into no man's land
the band plays the songs
that will make us strong

Verse 4
I don't feel a thing
Em
as I -hit the ground
Am
your photograph
Am
falls as I fall
Am

2nd chorus all G
Over the top
Into no mans land
your photograph
still close to my heart

Out all G chord

Over the top
into no man's land
buried with your photo
next to -my heart

all the young men
G
in a foreign field
G

all with a photo
Em
next to their hearts
Am
