Hi All

This is a song I wrote some years ago
My band Kings of the Quarter mile has injected new life into it
It’s quite a sad tale really complete fiction but with elements of my own life included
See what you think 🤔
Link at the bottom of the page

Long ago and far away
But seems just like yesterday
If I Close my eyes
I can see the place
I first saw your smiling face
Find I start to drift again
Maybe sleep will ease the pain
Of a broken heart And a broken mind
Needed space needed time

CH.
I find myself in Dreamsville
The place where I grew up
The place where I feel safe
Find myself in Dreamsville
Trees I used to climb
Still standing tall today
There in Dreamsville

Across the rocky And over the bridge
They said you won’t make it But I always did
We carved our names and we fooled around
Got home late Without a sound
I make it on up to the top of the stairs
After getting past Pa Asleep in his chair
Laying awake with the radio on
Imagining I was playing the songs

Child is a memory
Wonder if they think of me
And how we said we’d make it big
When the fuses blew at our first gig
They all got married settled down
I just moved from town to town
Pictures I have in my mind
Are the only comfort while I do my time

Yo Retro.

I love the guitar sound and country rock feel on this one. Very tasty slide work indeed, great feel and expression.  8)

Overall it's a tight, well crafted track. It didn't bother me at all,but current trends seem to be a max of 3 minutes,so if you were aiming the song at radio or suchlike, maybe a trim might help.

I'm off for another couple of listens to that slide.  8)

This is good, reminds of that Tom Petty feel at the start the vocals kinda remind me of Mike Scott from the Water Boys a bit, like the chorus'y guitar sound and the vocals are really passionate, I can feel you're really meaning it!

Defo radio friendly AOR music, well done, great job.

Maybey some harmonies on the chorus vocals to lift it up even more.

I like this your voice is great - i really like the story telling and the guitars and melody are fab the only thing that I feel needs something a bit more is the chorus which for me just needs a bit more punch but apart from that it's a great song

Great song lots of energy here!

Excellent production.

For me the song makes you feel that you are in Mid USA on a road trip.

Something I'd want to sing on a road trip.

Well done

I love that guitar sound. A well produced tune mate. Decent voice that makes me want to hear more of it. The lead guitar is cracking. I've followed you on Soundcloud.
