Hello,

Here's a no nonsense version of my recent song "In Liverpool"  It's the first time that I've personally mastered my own music.  I decided to start wit ha simple guitar vocal song.  I'm not really sure about the journey that this song might take.  It might stay as it is, or explode into life with a full band at the end.  I'd love to hrear your thoughts on the production journey that this might take.  Perhaps further voacals, suggested instrumentation. Anyway In Liverpool is a song that I am very attached to.

In Liverpool

In Liverpool, confetti falls like winter snow
In Liverpool, we'll never kiss, We'll never go.

I recall the best of times
When music played and couplets rhymed.
Where Christmas lights beneath the tree
had made a place for love to be.

In Liverpool, our love will stay,. We'll rue the day
we ever left two lovers there. Do you know where.

The station clocks will never move
beneath the shuffling city groove.
Her platform smile, will haunt the tracks.
In Liverpool, we won't be back.

In Liverpool, in Liverpool
No more.

Perhaps the Gods will intervene
They'll disregard this movie scene.
Maybe we'll grow old and gray.
We'll live to love another day

Hi
This is a nice song, I'm not sure I would give it too much more instrumentation, perhaps another guitar either making occasional appearances or coming in towards the end of the song...something picked like the main guitar but an octave higher and/or in a different rhythm?
Or you could introduce an acoustic bass about 3/4 of the way through...or both together to really give it a lift maybe

Other notes on the mixing:
- The edit at 1:29 (ish) is really obvious - a bit jarring.
- I think the vocals are too loud compared to the guitar (on my earbuds at least)
- Need some de-essing on the vox
- I would tone down the reverb and cut some of the highs on it. I think the reverb is probably adding to the harsh essess at the moment
- Cut down brightness in general. Sounds like you are maybe adding quite a lot of high end in the EQ (or is it just a very bright reverb?)

Agree with the sentiments above mostly.  The guitar for me sounded a little dry and cold in places so I'd maybe bring it up slightly and give it a small touch of echo in places.
