I've written one or two engaging and heartfelt lyrics about love and the city of Liverpool.  Sadly, this is a little different

In Liverpool

In Liverpool, confetti falls like winter snow.
In Liverpool, we'll never kiss, we'll never go.

I recall the best of times
when music played and couplets rhymed.
Where Christmas lights beneath the tree
had made a place for love to be.

In Liverpool, our  love will stay. We''ll rue the day
we ever left two lovers there. Do you know where?

The station clocks will never move
beneath the shuffling city groove.
Her platform smile, will haunt the tracks.
In Liverpool, we won't be back.

In Liverpool, in Liverpool
no more.

Sad lyrics Paul. Painted a very bleak picture.  Do you have any music in mind ? All the very best from me

Hello John,

Thanks for reading the lyrics. they are very sad indeed. I set them to fingerpicked acoustic guitar this evening.  The song wrote itself.  I have a blurred photograph of someone special throwing confetti in the air and smiling with wonder and excitement beneath a Christmas tree in the heart of Liverpool city centre. Damn those beautiful memories that photographs encourage.  I have another memory of the same person on the train station platform standing underneath the station clock, whilst force feeding me jellies and smiling beautifully.  I think that  this person and I will always remain in the city of Liverpool but we will never visit the same location together again.

Thank you my friend!

Hi Paul

Beautiful words Paul - if this emerges as a finished song, they are the sort of lyrics you need to hear when you are feeling positive generally, or you could end up in a very sad place.

I do love it when a song writes itself - doesn't happen too often for me.

Potentially crushingly sad, but love those snapshots of real-life, the clock, the confetti, and leaving the lovers behind. Very personal but I think most can relate - that's a real art.

  Hello,
Short, but none the worse for that. A sad song that says so much, love the clock verse. When looking for ways to improve this, i came up blank, so it's a winner for me.

Hi Paul

I have looked at the lyrics of about ten songs today wondering if there was any that was 'special' / 'different'. Yours is the only one I found interesting. Good subject easy to read lyrics etc. Don't know about the rest of them but I liked it
