Hi this is about when first started dressing as a woman

I'd sit in my room for about 20 minutes a day with the door closed but one day I thought what am I doing what is the point of this - now I go out as Katie to groups and stuff

Don't sit in the corner girl

What you doing sitting sitting in the corner girl ?
go on , get up- give us a twirl

don't sit in the corner girl
come on, get up  give us a twirl

you have to be yourself and no one else
so don't sit in the corner hiding girl
go on , get up- give us a twirl

(Fast beat) don't sit in the corner girl
and let the night pass you by
I can see in your eyes that you want to dance
you're waiting for someone to give you the chance

(Slow) don't sit in the corner girl
and wait for someone to come along
don't waste your time waiting- girl
come on get up , give a twirl

If you just sit there all night long
missing song after song and the chance to twirl
You'll walk home disappointed , won't you girl
so come on , get up -give us a twirl

I can see in your eyes that you want to dance
but don't just sit there and take a chance
that someone will take your hand

don't sit in the corner , with false hope - girl
come on get up, give us a twirl

Life's too short , to wait around
so come on , get up girl - when you hear the sound
of the music playing

Fast beat) don't sit in the corner girl
and let the night pass you by
I can see in your eyes that you want to dance
you're waiting for someone to give you the chance

but don't sit there with false hope , girl
get up now give us a twirl

get up now , give us a twirl
get up now , give us a twirl
get up now , give us a twirl
get up now , give us a twirl
get up now , give us a twirl
get up now , give us a twirl

get up now girl
before it's too late

Katie, this is totally motivational and inspiring, whether I read your story behind writing it or not. We can all see ourselves in that place, trying to find the courage to put ourselves out there, to show the world who we are, especially if we're not confirming to "normal" stereotypes. Putting yourself out there like this is both very brave and hopeful. It's easier to do what people expect. Doing what is in your heart is sometimes not easy. Your lyrics show that internal struggle beautifully.

Good luck,
Lynn

Wow Lynn thank you so much , it means so much to hear that - writing has always helped me to escape  - feel real to use the lyrics if you'd like to do,something with them

Thanks Katie xxx

Thanks so much, Katie, that's very generous. I am currently working on a project that's all consuming, but I'll keep this in mind if there's ever a lull in the action.

Do you play an instrument? I'm assuming you don't, but you really should. Learn guitar. It's fun. It's a shame you're not putting your words to music. You should do it!

No I don't play an instrument but I'm starting to look up a few you tube videos to learn about music theory and chords just to give me a bit of an idea - I just like writing mainly
