Em, well it was a critique.

I'm hoping to get valuable, ideally detailed critiques for my work - because that allows me to improve.

Which is a good thing.

A bad thing, would be basic 'cool man'. Unless of course, my work was flawless.

(Of course, for some, 'cool stuff, man' is enough, on both sides of the comment - nothing wrong with that per se. But I'm assuming the objective in posting work for critique, is in the hope of useful thoughtful, specific, analysis. If my critique came across as thoughtless or vague - yup, that'd I'd like to be made aware of.)

Hi Dave,

I took no offense to what you wrote. I actually consider it a huge compliment to be mentioned anywhere near Cyndi Lauper and Beth Gibbons. Really. They each have decades more singing and performing than I do. I wrote and recorded my first song less than two years ago. My voice is nowhere near either of theirs, so I loved being compared to them.

Sorry if I came across as snarky. Welcome to the forum. You'll get what you're looking for. Just keep reviewing other people's songs and it will happen quickly.

Lynn

Yo red and dia.

I've been listening to a lot of ambient music lately,so perhaps my ears were in the right place to appreciate this piece.

I enjoyed the floaty, letting go feeling, just content to be along for the ride.

I'm in the 'miss the bass' camp too,but that aside,it was groovey baby.  8)

Thanks Skub buddy. Glad you enjoyed the ride, and it didn't make you puke. Haha.

took me a while to get involved but im glad i held on
couple of bass notes might hav pinned me earlier ..
got swept up by the vocal & turning strings
cocteau twins came to mind..
the vocal & dreamy warping fairground circling
im for a bass, not a gymnast, but thoughtful at strategic points ...
but i was wrong about bob the builder too so
whatever really good listen
good luck with it
think its worth something

i may not believe this tomorrow...

I think it needs a bass guitar to kick in after a few bars just to signify that we're underway but that's not to say that this isn't a lovely sounding track. Not a great fan of synthesiser music so when the vocals stopped, I kind of lost interest until they came back in. Melodically I think it's little limited but the overall sound is effective.

Thanks nooms. Love Cocteau Twins. Really cool comparison. I don't understand the Bob the builder comment. Haha.

Thanks Montydog. I think bass would be a good idea. I understand why you think the melody is limited. I'm glad you still think it works.
