I just might have posted this before, I guess I can't remember

it's got music to it and eveything - it's so old I don't know if i want to go back and fix it up.
Maybe on a rainy day, as an excercise.

If anyone can get with the idea of it and suggest any changes it might stoke my imagination and I might get around to finishing it. I think I should just put in a final effort to make something of it, even if it means changing it essentially.

down the straight and narrow

So Malcolm has been flirting,
like a player with next to no faith
he gets wet when it is raining,
wi' no protection in a tight space
keeping tags on what's been borrowed,
will only add to your heavy heart of sorrow
tread lightly now, as you go down,
  down the straight and narrow

Watch the drama from your window,
from the frames n' dusty shades
hold your verdict 'cause you'll never know,
all we've got are faces and names
       he'll compromise his good conscience,
skin so thick, slick n' tough, like leather
it's getting ever so much harder since
he's been old enough to know better

the way he came is the way he'll surely go

Off the cuff don't sweat the smaller stuff,
between passion and common sense
you will know when he's had enough,
Malcolm lights up in self defense
       fascinates skin-tone to marrow,
             quicksilver-fast-talk cheap impossible to follow
do listen though, it's a beautiful sound
 and mighty like the sparrow

the way he came is the way he's sure to go
            down the straight and narrow

You wouldn't last a minute, not in my world, baby
you might take some pride from that
you've been in it an' getting nowhere lately
     there's a bee-hive under your hat
it's never easy to leave the hometown,
n'them wanton brothers of questionable virtue
the one thing you now know is how
 sweetness will surely hurt you

tread lightly now, as you go down
                      down the straight and narrow

Just having a look at it if that's ok and doing my thing to it

Finding the sunshine

So Malcolm's been flirting has he
Yeah, like a player with no game plan
and he's getting wet even when the sunshines
he's like a man whose lost his way
and he's heart full of sorrow
because tomorrow's gone bring more rain and more pain
there's no straight and narrow for him
because he wandered of that road
and he don't know the way back

He ain't even got a jacket for the cold
they watch him through their windows
and they know that even prayers
are gonna fall on death ears
he's sure to meet his maker soon
and no one knows his name
the dice of life ain't rolled his way
you can see it in his half closed eyes
and his skin that's thick n slick like leather

he don't wanna find the  straight and narrow road
he's carried his load so long , there is no other way
All you can do is pray for a peaceful end

Oh Malcolm , what's it gonna be ?
aren't you gonna take the hand that offers help
can't you see ? , we ain't all bad and are looking to use you
if we save you, we'll be saving ourselves as well
cause we're all gonna fall some day my friend
and then we'll be the ones in the rain
Even on the sunniest days

Let me take your worn out soul and make it whole
let me run you run a bath and wash you in front of the fire
I won't look if you wanna shed a tear over a beer
I know it was a woman , but I won't pry
I know You'll gonna hold that pain until you die
it's all you've got left of her now

When I hold your hand and look into your misty eyes
I know that you aren't long of this world
I can see your cracks through your eyes
I light you a cigarette and you take it in your dried out lips
and I see that smile that the world took away
and I'm smiling as well
because I know you've found the straight and narrow road you left long ago
but now I can see it in your face
because gods come for you

as the tears roll down my face
I know that I've got a story to tell
and I know you've found your sunshine
and you won't get cold no more
Oh Malcolm , Oh Malcolm

It really moved me to right that xxx

Was interesting to read that
lots of different ideas.

I know my lyrics (I've got music for it too)
When trying to realise it, I came to see there was something essential missing.
I shortened it by chopping off the 4th verse, then other songs started coming n I, or it was lost.

Thanks for taking the time there.

  Hey up!

This is interesting, but i'm struggling to get a line on who this Malcolm guy is, or the picture you're trying to paint. Would it be too much trouble to ask for a little more info on the song, so i can appreciate it all the more.

It's been a while since I wrote it and it always was a bit vague and with diverse ideas to begin with.
I don't think I can give any more background than what's already in there.

I might have written it as a first draft and have been hoping for more clarity as time went on, it never came and this is why I posted it.

Something might come of it yet.
