Song of the Month
January 2018
Hello everyone, and welcome to January's SOTM. It's an honour to be hosting and a as usual a real challenge to try and whittle down the submissions into just five. I've been keeping a keen eye (and ear) on the songs posted this month and am continued to be amazed by the quality and quantity.
The first song I'm putting forward is
Jodie, posted back on the 8th by Skub - I knew at the time it would be hard to beat off my list and it's held ground all month. With a touching story and smashing groove I could listen to this all day every day
A strong contender to fight against is a collaboration between Hull Soul Collective and Faraway my Lovely with their song
The Lake Was Frozen - something unique, potentially unexpected but highly enjoyable.
For my next nomination, I couldn't avoid Adam with his brilliantly clever and relatable acoustic track
I-Sad. If it wasn't for hosting SOTM this one may have slipped under my radar - and anyone who lets it slip under their's would be amiss!
Another which blasts with originality and quality is Rightly's
By the Light - posted on the first day of the month! Throwing away the midi's and treating us to some pure, authentic acoustic enjoyment.
Last up, but by no means least, is Pompeyjazz's love song where he swaps the strings for keys and lays down a wonderful ballad - bringing us all into a loving new year with his tune
Carry the Love.
Best of luck choosing between those! Send me your top 3 in order so I can add 'em up and determine a winner!
