Actually the links don't lead to the same content. Your link is for unread posts, and Ram's link is for unread replies. I thought I knew the difference when I began this post, but now I'm here I don't really know!

But I just followed both links and the content was definitely different....

The link I posted is specifically for unread replies to your own posts, the link in the home menu is for all unread posts. Both links existed on the old forum and I think both were particularly useful. Narcissist's like me love to quickly know when their own posts have some activity 
Either that or it is a good ego knock down when you don't get any replies

Nope, you did it nearly right. in order for tagging to work, you have to type the @ symbol and the name, but when the name appears in the drop down list you have to click or tap it. Otherwise it doesn't recognise it as a tag @CaliaMoko

Okay, here goes... @tone <<sigh>> I typed the @ and then I typed "tone". Nothing happened. No drop down list appeared. What's the long method? Maybe tone? Nope, that's for emailing.... Hmmm. I looked at the source code for the @CaliaMoko in your message, but it's really long. That would be unwieldy to do by hand. Maybe it's just my computer refuses to cooperate. ??

If you are wanting to tag tone type @ton and then wait to see if a list appears

If it doesn't can you list your browser etc.
