Hi,it's a diverse forum and this is what it is,
i'm open to criticism.

                           JUST SAY CUT THE CRAP

Boys and girls just revolt and murder your toys
nail your flag to the mast and go make some noise
God bless Che Guevara and all those Jarrow men
and God rest their souls Barbie and Ken
if you wanna revolution, slaughter your toys
say just cut the crap and go make some noise
there's power in a union and there's truth in a pen
but Willy's writing silly love songs again

say just cut the crap and nail your flag to the mast
what a guy Guy Fawkes he nearly had a blast
God bless Che Guevara and all those Jarrow men
and God rest their souls Barbie and Ken

if you wanna revolution murder your toys
if you wanna revolution go and make some noise
if you wanna revolution nail your flag to the mast
if you wanna revolution say just cut the crap

beurocrats and mister men just say cut the crap
politics and number 10 just say cut the crap
stand your ground make a sound and you will never fall
God bless America and let him build a wall

say just cut the crap and nail your flag to the mast
what a guy Guy Fawkes he nearly had a blast
there's power in a union and there's truth in a pen
but Willy's writing silly love songs again
there's power in a union and there's truth in a pen
but Willy's writing silly love songs again.

Hi Tom,

I think this is great. Took me back to the 1980s.

A couple of suggestions:

I'd call Willy either Billy or William, maybe William would be better for disguising who you're singing about. It would also reinforce the difference between his love songs and his political songs.

I'm not keen on "say cut the crap" as a line. For me it doesn't flow very well with the rest of the lyrics. They seem a little forced.

I don't know if you have tried saying the words over a beat but I found some of the "and"s to fall on the beat given them a prominence they don't deserve.

Feel free to ignore me if you disagree,

Keith

Tom,

Hi and good to see you back posting. Enjoyable wordplay as ever, always fun, full of interest and energy with your internal rhymes.  I'm guessing Willy is Billy the Bragg?

I'm also with Keith on the 'just say cut the crap'. Crap is a a hard word and its not rhymed but I think I would be better to delete 'say' ?

Also wondered whether you could twist and turn around the first two lines of the last verse
'just cut the crap and nail your mast to the flag
5th of November was the best Guy had'

Lots to like

Thanks fellas for the feedback,
i must admit it is a bit hicklety picklety,
i was even thinking about deleting it but it's out there now.
Willy's nobody in particular,it just rhymes with silly,
                                                                           cheers,Tom.

   Hi Tom,
I also thought this was about Billy Bragg, or someone like him, being urged to quit the silly love songs and get politically active again. But i guess i was wrong when i saw the only reason for Willy was to make a rhyme. No matter, i like it anyway, funny how songs mean different things to different people.

There's power in a union and there's truth in a pen
But Willy's writing silly love songs again.

Now that is worth the admission price alone.

Hey Tom,

I'm so glad you didn't delete, I had too much fun reading these, it's very entertaining to fit all those funky words in whilst keeping the rhythm, which rocks and bounces and jumps beautifully - switching between them like a well-balanced instrumental.

"Cut the crap" is a little jagged but I thought that worked with it, gave a nice switch in rhythm and symbolises the stepping out of the norm.

I'm not as knowledgeable as the others but Willy being Silly was all I needed xD

Cheers,
Scott.
