The Christmas Bell That Wouldn't Ring
Copyright (c) 2017 Tennyson Road Music

It happened every year at Christmas
The kids would decorate the Christmas tree
They got a box of bells from the basement shelves
And hung them up so carefully

But they always had a tiny problem
When they gave each bell a little shake
One didn't make a sound, so they knew that they'd found
The Christmas bell that wouldn't ring

He was such a lovely golden colour
And he could shine like any star you've seen
But as cruel as it sounds, they didn't like him around
So they stuck him at the back of the tree

 He could hear the gong
 Of the big bell's song
At the start of every Christmas day
But it was hard to be
 Hanging quietly
When he knew he had a part to play

Then one Christmas eve' he hung there waiting
When Santa came upon the scene
And it was just by chance, he took a sideways glance
And saw our shiny friend behind the tree

A helper who had come with Santa
Sprang to action when she saw him wink
She tapped her hammer quick, and had his clapper fixed
In the time it takes an elf to blink

And that bell began to ring!
And his ring was a beautiful thing!!

Now when he hears the bong
 Of the big bell's song
At the start of every Christmas day
He's at the front of the tree
 Ringing gleefully
He knows his part by heart, I'm happy to say!

So the moral of this little story
Is everybody's got a part to play
Until you play your part, keep a song in your heart
Like the Christmas bell that wouldn't ring

Until you play your part, keep a song in your heart
Like the Christmas bell that wouldn't ring !!

Delightful. Everything a Christmas song should be. It really should be animated. You have the beginning of a classic Christmas special, like Frosty or Rudolph.

Very clever, well executed  and a great Xmas song  ... I agree an animation would really bring this alive!

Now I'm not a big fan of this time of the year really but this is so well done and put a big smile on my face on a grey day  :)

Yes @Paulski I have exactly the same problem with a couple of my tree decorations. What a charming, classic number! Very enjoyable - and definitely festive!
My latest novel: pls check it out!

Totally charming song. Marvellous imagination on display here and great use of sound effects. It doesn't quite trump my favourite Xmas song (Driving home for Xmas) or my second (No Christmas for John Quays) but it's better than almost everything else!

Hi Paul, your song makes happy instantly! Christmas, to me, is something that I discover each year from a different glance but songs like yours take me back to my years of little girl, free of everything except the happies. See you and continue giving us your smile. Mora

This song is Christmassy in every single line and note played!

It autoplayed on sound cloud for me and I was like "I gonna comment on it" and then I've noticed the author and knew I would find it here :)

Great composition, conveys the holiday spirit and lifts up the mood
Have a great day!

Hey Paulski
Recently on my commutes I am working through MOJO Magazine's top 50 Albums of 2017, trying to broaden my horizons. I had just sat through a platter of really bleak industrial hiphop and then put your song on. It acted like anti-venom and restored the balance in my system within a few bars. A lovely, innocent, old school festive yarn. I won't even bother to say it's impeccably sung as that's stating the bleedin' obvious with any of your stuff. Well done, again, for warming the forum's cockles.
It's all too beautiful.

A true Christmas song in the classic Paulski style.

There was something about the bell motif that I couldnt quite put my finger on and wasn't sure about at first.
Detuned, slightly out of tune, a note played a semitone down???

Whatever it is, it's really grown on me and I think adds to the character of the track.

Great lyrics as usual, imaginative and well put together.

Merry Christmas

This registered quite high on my 'cheese-o-meter but i'll let you off as its christmas ;)
Nice songwriting technique as usual - I think children would love it.

WOW<Paul! This is so heart warming :-* It really got me out of my funky Xmas mood  ::)
I can hear this in a classic Xmas cartoon, like Rudolph  :) You should really pitch it  :)
The vocals, melody, lyrics, production are all top notch :o I love it  :-*
