Hello,

I know, I know, it's too early for Christmas music! I think so too. But this one is about exactly that. Hopefully it will please you, fellow grouchy grinches.

Thanks for listening!

I Don't Think it's Going to Snow

Hear the jingle bells they are ringing
And the carolers they are singing
The mistletoe's hanging low
It seems like it's going to snow

Look there's Santa Claus he looks jolly
Decking out the halls in bows and holly
The lights are all red and green
But it's not even Halloween

I came to this store for sunscreen 'cuz
It's seventy five degrees
But I can't find it anywhere
Now that aisle has artificial trees

There's a snowman he's made of plastic
He'll never melt isn't that fantastic
I don't wanna sound grumpy and mean
But it's not even Halloween

The signs all say I'll show I care
With that ugly reindeer sweater
I guess that'll do for my sister 'cuz
I never know what to get her

Hear the jingle bells they are ringing
And the carolers they are singing
The mistletoe's hanging low
But I don't think it's going to snow
No, I don't think it's going to snow
No, I don't think it's going to snow

I'm not a fan of Christmas songs, same songs year in year out just drives you crazy..
so nice to hear a new (and very good) Christmas song, lyrics are humorous which is not usual ( I think )
which is a plus for me..
sounds as good as all the other Christmas stuff out there...
vocal sounds fab..good work! :) :)

I'm totally with Kev on this one. It's simple but effective and different. The sleigh bells don't work for me though as I think as soon as you hear them the song is immediately categorised  ;D

Lovely song though  :)

Can not say I'm usually a big fan of Christmas music but the snow fell light and elegant over the imaginary Christmas landscape you paint with humor in this song.

Hey Ho - plastic fantastic - I like your humor - I like your song // seventy five degrees or not I could see the snow fall.

musical craftsmanship - is a gift for the people

Hi,

I quite like this, bout time there was an anti Christmas song.

Personally I think I would like to hear some sort of contrast between the two vocals so that one is more dominant or they are separated somehow.

Nice lyrics.

Merry November.

Fun!
But I think I'd like to know it was an "anti-Christmas-song-Christmas-song" a bit more quickly, before the end of the second verse, or I'd have probably choked on the festive cheese and switched it off before I got to the punchline.
This could probably work well without the Xmas cliches in the music itself... I could imagine a full-on indie rock version of it.  (Check out Ten Benson's "Black Snow" on YouTube for an example of what I mean!)
It's all too beautiful.

Kev, thanks so much. That means a lot coming from you.

PJ, maybe I'll try recording it with bongos to throw them off the Christmas scent. Haha. Thanks for the feedback.

Krysoe, wow, lovely review. Thank you!

Thanks 2tuoo. That's the point, isn't it. Maybe it should be Christmas year round. Yay.

Yodasdad, I'd call it more a realistic view of what Christmas has become than anti Christmas. I actually love Christmas. Especially the presents. Haha.

PaulyX, Good things come to those who wait. I'm glad you made it to the punchline. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Hey redrhodie.

I like the sardonic attitude of the song.

I agree with Yodadsdad that the echoing phrase voice should either be EQed differently or lower in the mix to create a contrast and a bit of variation.

It caused me to smile, which I'm doing much at the moment,so ta for that.  :)

Lady I really like your 60s pop aesthetic, and Best Coast voice.  Your songs have a real uncorrupted melodic charm that owes nothing to modern sensibilities. That's groovy.
Unfortunately this lyric just excludes me as a hip and groovy being.
It might be ironic, or anti, or any of those other hip things that make a song cool to like, but it's still a Christmas song, and that's equivalent to declaring it terminally uncool to my ilk.
Yeah, I know I'm pathetic but I just cant help it. Do a version for us groovy people, with a new lyric?

Thanks Skub. Glad I made you smile.

Silvermachine. I don't think I'll be rewriting this one, but I can redo White Christmas for you...

I'm dreaming of a red lipstick
Just like the one that used to glow

How's that?

Thanks for your support. Haha.

I enjoyed this a lot.

Particularly the “ho ho ho”s

Lyrics were great...it would have been great if they could have been a little clearer...but just a minor detail.

Cool! First time for everything. Haha.

Thanks, Paul. Ho, ho, ho's are my specialty, and I hardly ever get to break them out. Thanks for the feedback. Maybe Keith will comment on the mix.

Yes, snow gives a special sense on Christmas time and even if it is not yet here, we invent all the other things that remind us its colour, its presence....
Cool song and cool sing. See you soon. Mora
