Yo people.

Make of this what you will, but never be afraid to ask questions.

https://soundcloud.com/skub1955/how-will-you-know

I won't ask for a song from a killer
Who lives and dies by the sword
I won't ask a priest for the answer
He's grown weary serving his Lord

You gotta ask the right question
You gotta ask the right guy

I won't ask a judge for mercy
Not with that look on his face
I won't ask the queen to curtsy
I must remember my place

You gotta ask the right question
You gotta ask the right guy

How will you know where to go
If you don't ask someone who knows
You gotta ask the right question
You gotta ask the right guy

How will you know where to go
If you don't ask someone who knows

I won't ask a dealer his business
He's always got something to sell
I won't ask any church for forgiveness
They need to confess for themselves

How will you know where to go
If you don't ask someone who knows

what is this song about?
why was it not written in D minor?
whats the meaning life?
is there a good?

:)

i like your song.

it reminds me of some classic song but i can t remember.

love that interlude around 1:45 - it s very clever.

and again around 2:12 - reverse guitar? fading into a small solo.

the arrangement is REALLY strong here.

it keeps the song interesting throughout.

very good.

I like the arrangement of this, there's a lot of variety from section to section in terms of instrumentation, production and panning etc.

Liked the really low bass sound towards the end and the really wide guitars at the beginning and various points.

All in all, there's a lot to like.

I'd personally go a touch louder on the vocal but what how would I know.

I love a good bit of jangle guitar  :) Those synth sounds at the start really threw me coming at me right and left.

Lovely melody and I like the way that you've broken it up into sections. Vocals and guitar top notch as usual - You're enjoying playing with those synth VST's aren't you ?

It sounds louder than usual - What have you been doing  ;D ;D

Yes, I thought it was very Byrds-y too, love that jangle guitar sound to bits. The section around 2:15 is a real surprise and works very well.  You can't beat a bit of psyche backwards guitar.  This style suits your voice really well Skub.  Can we have some more in this vein please?  Right up my alley, no nits at all.
It's all too beautiful.

Hi Skub,

It's a strong concept and you've written some lovely lines. The delivery has a lovely world weary feel which is perfect for the song. Your singing reminds me of someone and I'm wracking my brain to figure out who. I loved the sound effecty/guitar parts that came in after 2 minutes. It's a strong hook that lived with me for ages after I'd listened to the track. Right up my street, turned left at No.12 and parked on my drive.  ;D

Great lyric!

I love a jangly guitar too...so I was sold on this from the off. I thought the bass sounded really great though...a great big fat chunk of loveliness. Solid vocal too. You’re in fine form, Davy... keep em coming!

Davy,

This is really good,

Guitar work top notch, production very cool. Lyrics flowed nicely,

as it was playing someone mentioned the reverse guitars etc and I was thinking....oh no, but they work well. I ll take it back.

Great variation in the musical sections, made the track very dynamic.

Its a thumbs up here.

Hi,

Good song, There is a lot of variety ... maybe even too much.
Someone mentioned the Byrds, I agree that. The guitar sounds like the Byrds.

The bass sound is excellent in some parts but sometimes you go too low.

Anyway, I like the song

Hey Davy!
Gave this one a listen and, as it is complete, I will refrain from commenting on any production choices (although, it is very well produced, as a whole) and instead, focus on the song.

I like it a lot.
Your voice reminds me of Ray Davies, which is always a plus in my book and, aside from that, I can clearly hear the Kinks influence in your writing, as well. Don't know that I can offer a higher complement, as Ray is one of my holy songwriting heroes.

What can I say? This is a supremely well-constructed song, well-performed, and very well thought-out in just about every single way.

The only thing I would say is that it is probably not a single. Because, although it is catchy, it's not quite catchy ENOUGH. It is, however, better than just an album track. Maybe an album track that can be put on the single's B-side as well? Might catch on... just not a first choice single.

Nonetheless, as stated, I dig it a lot.
Nice work!

I love the amount of variety in sound in this song.
Some parts were really unexpected and great sounding.

I feel that the vocals get a bit lost behind louder music parts
Have a great day!
