Digger
Doomy as hell with its plodding pace and alienating soundscape.
The vocals and the fx fit this well.
Really grows on you by the end, with the chorused organ and the alternating low and high vocals and hand claps
good luck

Nice blend of synths and the pipe organ to give it that gothic edge.

Personally I might take just a little bit of the sparkle off the organ to make it slightly darker. Maybe push in the short pipe drawbars a little if you have that option.

There's a monotony to this that works in a good way.

Don't think it will be on my feel good playlist but I think it works well for the purpose you've written it.

Hi Digger,

Wow, that is super down and just right for the competition. Could it be any more depressing, bleak and dark?If I ever get really happy and want to break the spell, I'll play this  :D

Very hard to judge it as a song but as an exercise in misery, it's a work of genius. I loved the vocal effect, the dragging beat and the bleak organ. OK, Dr Death, you hold no fear for me now.

Hey Digger,

Quote
Sorry, it's rubbish, and it's me singing. This is the 3rd attempt at a song...

Sounds like you've been stressing too much! All the pressure of being defending champ? :)

Luckily for us listeners, but unlucky for us contenders, is that even a rush-job from yourself is an absolute pleasure to hear.

Very minimalist but intelligent lyrically, gets straight to the point but makes good use of words/phrases to carry that dark feel and it's rather powerful to that affect.

Put that along side the daunting music and well-suited vocals and there's a very omnious yes satisfying feel to the whole thing.

All the best in the comp, and thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Scott.

The bell tolls, the weird vibrating noise/synth? comes in, then the church organ. We’re in the procession. Totally hitting brief. I was just starting to think, “maybe some choir sounds or something there” in my mind.  But  - THEN that high synth/organ drops in with the higher vocal melody – AMAAAAAZING! Loving the new wave/retro edge to this too.

Hi,

Pink Floyd is back, this has Floyd's early days feeling. I like this.
Very odd and dark mood in the song.
Maybe the synths could have another sound (at 3:00 or something).

Anyway, Good song

Brilliant IMO

I'm sat here listening to this and I find myself drifting off completely absorbed in the track. Really enjoyable experience. Great atmosphere and very emotive. And the singing suited it perfectly, fantastic!

Hi Digger,

missed the Donovan reference but picked up loads of Floyd.

Great song, good luck in the competition.

Like the (apparent) simplicity of this one - stripped back and direct. Perfectly captured the mournful atmosphere. Liking your vocals - even the aahs work really well. I think up to your normal standards, and perfect for the comp, even if you are critical.

OMG Digger  ;D ;D You're very much ' at home ' with this dark stuff.
This is exceptionally dark though......should I be worried ;D ;D
And Forest are doing so well....

I love your vocal here mate. Don't think Katja would have created such
an atmosphere of doom as you did. ;D  It works really well, and is the
darkest song I've heard so far....hehe, what a compliment. ;D

take care old chap, and good luck....you have a habit of winning these things ;D
