How do you cope with the constant addiction/compulsion to want to buy guitars?

If I had invested all that time practicing instead of drooling over other guitars I would be Paco de Lucia by now....

It's all in the fingers, though isn't it?

Must admit, I no longer even look at other guitars. I have one (well, several) so unless they break or wear out I'm good to go. I think it comes with age. I'm getting to a place where I'm trying to offload possessions rather than onload them.

I just got the one guitar, a cheapo 1970s piece of wood with strings and one pickup. All guitars sound the same when you put them through two fuzzboxes and into a cranked amp sim.
Yeah I could buy something better but I need the money for more important things like beer, drugs and Frosties.
You can only play one guitar at once yknow! You guys thought of that?

Start by learning how to build them yourself......Totally cures the GAS.      You'll begin to pay attention to what the materials are and other indicators of how they are built.....
And the pleasure of actually getting pretty good at building is better than any acquisition....

I just watch this, played on a fairly cheap acoustic 12 string.

It reminds me to learn to play the guitars I already have.

What Igg said.

I'll never buy another Strat, the one I built fits me like a glove.
Telecasters are more dangerous, but I've been good since building a few of them.

I too suffered this affliction for many years.  Guitars (especially acoustic guitars) are beautiful and I always craved new and different models.  I've settled with two acoustic guitars, an electric and a classical.  It wasn't until my marriage break-down that I put it into perspective. I had so many more  important responsibilities to take care of that I finally kicked the habit of buying new guitars.  long may it continue.

Idk, I had one guitar and one only for about 20 years. Then I finally started to earn enough so I could treat myself to a few more, and frankly, I see no reason to stop since I enjoy them all. I don't think the next one will make me any better or anything.

It's not like I'm addicted or something!?!

I'd love to say more on this but I have to go, there's an auction going on on eBay, it's an old stella pre WWII!!!  ;D ;D ;D

It's true, so true. The difference is that Neil can actually play his guitars.
