At risk of repeating what others have said, it took me a few seconds to get into the vibe of the song and was a very pleasant listen all the way through. The various instruments have been expertly layered and built up over the track. I was trying to imagine Prince singing this one. Obviously your voice is somewhat different, but it still worked. Ive always been a fan of backing vocals and I really like your harmonies at the end, but I think you could fatten up the vocal earlier in the song on the "I need you" parts. It would really add impact to the chorus and make it stand out more.
I love the keyboard solo, but I recon it could be longer. I'm listening on the train, so maybe soundcloud just lost a few bars however!
Lyrically, I get where you are coming from. The groove, the arrangement and the vibe are the main starts of this song and lyrics secondary. It's no issue for me because everything else was so good. It might not work with just an accoustic at singers night however.
Regardless, very nice sounding track with great instrumentation.
