Binladeda pinged me a delicious little reggae based backing track a few weeks ago for me to play with. At first I didn't have any ideas lyrics wise then inspiration called when I was at the Supermarket along with the hordes, some who seem to treat it as a day out  :) I hate those places but they're a necessity.

So, Supermarket Hero was born. I dropped in a dub section and some horns and mixed it up a bit.

Here's the result....

Supermarket Hero

Tills go ping at the supermarket
Check the price of the two for one bargains
Swing your scanner from your low slung belt
Clear the shelves of things that melt
Living your life of mindless TV
Lay in bed to well gone three
Make your visit to get your fix
That's the way that retail ticks

You Whinge – You Whine – You Binge – You Moan
Then you go to the shops

Better be quick to collect your points
Run down the aisle full of discount joints
People queuing for the latest offer
Take the advice of your personal shopper
Elbow your way to the front of the queue
That's the sensible thing to do
Grab the goods from the top of the shelf
That one's yours – There's no-one else

You Whinge – You Whine – You Binge – You Moan
Then you go to the shops

What a day, it's been exhausting
A life of retail can be pretty daunting
Spinning home in your fancy wheels
All stocked up with your ready cooked meals

You Whinge – You Whine – You Binge – You Moan
Then you go to the shops

What a mindless greedy culture
Wheeling overhead like a starving vulture
Who knows where, who knows when
You'll start your shopping over again

Yo Pomps.

Is it Bin's current mission to keep everyone busy?  :D

Great collab you two.

I had a big grin going on while listening to the lyrics. I am the one who does the weekly trolley dash for Chez Skub, while avoiding the brain dead zombies infesting every isle,so I can readily identify with the song topic.  :D

It's a magic idea for the song,John. I love Bin's track, real authentic feel there, going all 'Dark Side of the Moon' towards the end was a masterstroke.

Now,get yourself busy with Bin's next project,while I do the same!  :P

Big 'n dark claustrophobic dubby vibes... I can think of nothing better to shuffle round the aisles of Sainsbury's to, scowling at everyone in my path while it chucks it down outside and western civilisation slips further into decay.  Nice to have some gloomy lyrics now and again and I like the way you connect a simple thing like going shopping to total cultural malaise.  Yessiree!
I like the horn and piano touches a lot - it's like a modern cousin of "Ghost Town".  I like the wig-out effects in the Mid-8 and towards the end too.  Great collaboration gents.
(PS Skub, yep, I've got my homework from Bin too!)
It's all too beautiful.

Hi guys

Great collab - perfect lyrics and melody for a bin groove track.
Then is gets all crystal suzy on us for the bridge - stellar!
Only tiny nit I have is the BV's distract from the lead vocal esp early on.
Maybe get some female BG singers on fiver?
Or pan 'em hard or EQ them brutally, or awash them in verb IDK  ???

Nice one guys - should make the short list for SOTM if I had my way.  ;D ;D

Great fun here. I want to share this one on my Facebook page I love it so much. It's funny, and something I think everyone who's shopped at a megamart can relate to. I avoid them as much as possible. What a sweet music track, too. Love the reggae beat, and the horn, piano additions.

Who's the person doing those great intros and outros? They're spot on for the tunes and add a character you never hear in commercial music. I'm a fan. Keep doing it.

Is bin the boss or a slave driver?  ;D

Hi,

Good collab - no way of knowing that this was produced by 2 separate people. Clever lyrics and I like your biting delivery. The record sounds great to me - very professional production. Catchy chorus too - a lot to like here.

Not really my cup of tea musically but a great collab nonetheless.

I do admire the way you find inspiration in the most unlikely places Pompey.

Nice job adding lyrics that fit the track.

This was well produced and played. I thought during the intro that everything was going to be panned and squashed quite centrally but then everything spread out nicely once the vocal came in to give a big, wide soundscape.

Good work both.

Hey thanks all of you but this involves me having to go to T****s superstore Fratton. Not going to do that on a weekend again. Frightening

Hi Bin and John

Great lyrics. Like the sentiment at the end, we are a greedy species!!

There's a great interplay here with vocals. It works really well. The music is really groovy and love the variety in the different sections. The backing vocals are great and really compliment the lead vocal. John's usual fab vocal sitting on top is nice - has a great tone to it. Sax (? is that a sax?) solo is superb, really well played. Really catchy - Soup Soup Supermarket! Great stuff.
