Hi All,

I hold my hands up, I haven't got many reviews in over the last couple of weeks so if you want to skip this one because I haven't commented on yours yet, that's fair enough.

https://soundcloud.com/my-idiom/follow-me-m-blair-2017

I'm going to try to sit down at the weekend and get caught up a bit after I get this busy week out of the way.

Anyway, this song was in its early stages when the Grenfell fire happened. I decided to to alter it's course slightly and continued to write it with that in mind. My plan was to release it via bandcamp/iTunes and donate any money that might be raised to the survivors.

Unfortunately a certain Mr Cowell beat me to it and apparantly he's got a bit more clout than me.

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks

Yodasdad

No way across
Draw on the strength you’ve got buried inside you
We’ll face it together
This won’t be forever
Remember the dreams that you need to cling to

pretty good songwriting;

i like producing and throwing in 1000 instruments; i didn't  miss one here; piano in V2 is brilliant.
dissonant guitar chords; awesome.

nothing to critique for me here.

Hey YD.

On a roll these days you are.

It's a beautiful song, pertinent and sensitive lyrics without being cheesy or cliched.

I was expecting a big full production somewhere along the line, mostly because I know you are so good at it,but there's a maturity there in your skill set and you know when to use stuff and when to leave it alone. I've learned myself,it's often what you leave out that makes a song, but man it's sometimes hard to do!

A credit to the forum you are and happy I am the listener being.  8)

As ever, really well produced & powerfully emotive stuff.  Good to hear something with simpler production than the last couple and probably all the more powerful because of that given the lyrical context.  Really love the chords at the end of the chorus in particular... are you happy to share the chords?
It's all too beautiful.

Another top song!

I really like the understated feel of this one...it's not as big and bold as some of your other excellent recent work...but it's even more to my liking.

Sounds great...tight lyrics and great vocal too, of course  :)

Most impressive.

Hello!

So this is a track I would walk in the mountains to. It would fit the scenery perfect (in my mind). I really enjoy your voice also!

Great songwriting on this aswell. I do think the mix could use a little bit less mid to open it up! Maybe cut down on some compression on the vocals aswell.

All with love

Thanks for the comments you guys,

Butcher, I'm usually everything and the kitchen sink production wise myself, had to reign myself in on this one.

Skub, thanks for you kind words, really appreciated!

PaulyX - chords from just take it slow - to the end of chorus are:

B-F#-G#m-E-B-F#-A-E-B Don't know if you wanted more than that, let me know. Thanks for listening.

Paulads, thanks for the compliments.

Beppe, thanks for listening, I'll have another look at the mix.

Vocals are beautiful in this - man, do you ever hit a bad note?
There was something 80's in this that totally works - what a great ballad.
Production is top notch.
Nothing I could possibly suggest to improve this.

Nice work  ;D

Hi, love the chord progression and the tone of the acoustic guitar. Lovely clean vocal. Good song and sparse arrangement which worked really well. I really liked this!
Nice one!

Good song!

Steady and reassuring in a way that suits the theme
and playing the guitar in a piano fashion sound great.

A tempo change at the Mid8 could work but it would
be the obvious way to make something new happen.

My favorite lines: "Sometimes a tear feels like a river" and "This won't be forever".

I can't find anything about the lyric or melody to nitpick at all. As far as production--if you play samples for me, for instance, with and without compression or whatever, I can't even hear the difference (I blame it on the loud ringing in my ears), so I can't comment on that.

As mentioned by others, your vocal delivery is wonderful. I might like to hear a slightly cleaner sound on "lend you" and "that you", but that's pretty minor. And I love the guitar and piano, also.

I would buy this, for sure! Just because someone else is raising money doesn't mean you can't, as well...does it?

Great vocals and those acoustics works a treat.
Some nice chord changes outside the beaten path that adds a really nice touch.
Good build throughout the song (piano was spot on)
Think I would have backed of the reverb a bit overall for a more intimate feel (matter of taste of course).
4.30 is normally a bit on the long side for me but not so in this case.
Very well crafted song and stellar performance.
Respect!

Hi YD,

Love the simplicity of the song, really beautiful and it keeps your attention. Your singing is beautiful as well, and would love to hear it a bit cleaner (maybe that's the reverb?).

Thanks for sharing this with us :)
